Oh... EDF. Your game mechanics make me a happy panda- for the most part. Your story is so silly and one note and rediculous that I laugh and cringe at the same time creating a saccharine taste in my mouth.

The feeling I get after sinking 110 hours on this game is that it is a pretty great arcade shooter. But-

BUT!

I'm glad I bought -this- version of the game.

Let me explain.

I get the feeling that this series is made by a small company. Sandlot (You're killing me smalls) reuses assets game after game after game after game after... game...? They haven't really made anything new here. But what is here is great.

Sixty dollars great? Hell no. F.uck them and you and me.

Thirty dollars great? Yes, I would say so.
DON'T BUY THIS GAME AT FULL PRICE.

Support them but not at full price. This is not a AAA game which is when you spend 60 bucks, but even then, maybe not really since the norm at the moment seems to be that you release your game half c.ocked relying on boner toting first come players to pay the full price for something to offset your initial costs while you patch it and pretend to apologize for what you gave them.

Not that they did the above. Just a mild tangent.

The graphics are fine especially considering the amount of enemies that spawn. Literally hundreds show up and you get to kill them.

The controls are ok, though I had to remap one or two.

The story is silly but fun to listen to in a bad B movie way.

This is the same game they have released over and over and over and over and over. You need to understand this fact. It was something I wasn't aware of until I talked to some of my friends who had played the older versions.

I was like, "Man, this is kind of interesting, the story has to do with these aliens where (spoilers spoilers) happen, I wonder what happened in the previous games, I might buy them!" And they were like, "Uh yeah it's just the same story." So I didn't buy them.

If you like a really fun and pretty tight mechanically arcade experience pick this up while its on sale sometime. It really is tons of fun.

If they've come out with a newer version then this when you read this review I'd advise you to buy that one as it's probably all copy paste once again just with slight updates. But again- don't pay 60 dollars for it.
