Short review

This game feels like a Wattpad fanfic—poorly written, filled with heavy-handed messages, and lacking engaging storytelling. The characters are overly idealised, and the narrative fails to deliver a compelling experience.

The lead writer, Deandra Fallon Warrick, describes herself as someone who "specialises in centering stories around marginalized characters, rendering with authenticity and compassion the experiences of folks who don’t fit within the presumed standard." If that gives you an idea of what to expect, you’re not wrong.

WARNING, THIS GAME IS WOKE !!!!!

By far the worst part of the game, in the first 30 minutes of the game you will experience:

Bowling with LGBT championship
Gay bar with a enormous pride flag
Lesbian attendant
friend Moses gay
Transgender Gwen
Forced to hit on the lesbian attendant and ask her out

Not only that, if you pay attention to the background dialogues, you will hear things like:
"White privilege" , "Language of love", "Girl Boss"
Its blend and it is not interesting to hear, clearly full of an agenda and barely any good dialogues.

Max's Powers and Plot Inconsistencies

Max's power to hear conversations in alternate dimensions had potential but was poorly utilized. By chapters 2–3, this mechanic is forgotten, leaving the world feeling flat and incomplete. It’s a shame because this concept could have added depth... Still, I do believe if we had more of that it would simply be more woke dialogue.

Max and comparison against Life is Strange (The original)

This game wasn’t developed by the original team, and it shows. The first Life is Strange excelled with its indie vibe, strong soundtrack, and engaging story rooted in chaos theory. Despite its dated graphics, it offered a far superior experience.

In Double Exposure, Max starts the game grieving a loss but makes quirky comments that feel awkward and out of place. It’s hard to connect with her, especially since she hasn’t yet discovered her powers or shown any growth as a character.

The game also fails to handle returning characters well. Max’s parents, Warren, and Chloe’s mom make appearances, but their characterisation feels shallow and disconnected from the original. For example:

Max behaves like a teenager when speaking to her parents.
Warren’s portrayal lacks depth and they are showing him as a psycho since he was Chloe's rival and the lesbian community hated him for it.
Chloe’s mom’s tweets feel unnecessary and kind of weird.
Max does not follow her parents in the social media
Thirsty tweets that are out of place can be found as well.

BTW, fun fact:

Yasmin in Double Exposure loses her daughter and it feels like she is the one going after Max to provide support (WTF)

Characters

It really feels like everyone is gay, if they are not gay they are some kind of minority, and if you are white you are probably hated by Max, like Lucas or the Detective (who was just doing his job)

Her best friend has the same issue that I had with Chloe where she has personality flaws and it is really hard to like her due to some dialogues.

Moses is annoying, the whole "I was a suspect because I am black" and then 1 sec later he tells Max that he had stole an item from the crime scene, I ♥♥♥♥ you not, this happened.

Diamond is just someone that is there to show: Black girl should aim for positions of power.

Vinh was the male romance option and Its funny because during half of the game I though he was gay and Amanda the female romance option says some weird stuff and the incorrect moment and the game pushes her SO MUCH to be the option that the player chooses.

The trans teacher... Honestly, a weird hug scene, the whole "I do not sell drugs to students" while smoking Marijuana was a stupid decision...

Lucas, obviously was created to be hated in the game, coincidentally he was the main white male of the game.

There are more characters, but this should give you some idea of the cast and the story they wanted to tell.

Is there anything good in this game ?

Not a lot, I liked the power, I think there is a comic where Max can travel through dimensions so this is nothing new, but it was misused and it felt the power was more like: "This door is locked in this dimension, what could you do to progress ? Guess what ? In the other dimension this door is open."

The graphics were nice and I think the songs are good, not as good as the first game, but it has the same vibe.

Well, I tried to like this game, but this was not for me, honestly.

LiS 1 was a game that everyone could play that had a girl-girl romance option, since the minority is so loud, they though the entire fanbase wanted a woke game (which I do not believe it is the case)

Double Exposure is also expensive and the first two episodes are BAD, its two hours of gameplay for 2 minutes that make you slightly care for the story.

Conclusion

Deck9 does not understand Life is Strange, they did a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ job with Max, the Ultimate edition is clearly not worth it and the only good riddance was Chloe not appearing in this game.

This is a faithful remake of the original. If you’ve played the original and compare them side by side, you’ll notice that this game truly took the effort to replicate the quality.

While I personally prefer the original voice actors because they felt more fun and unique, I still like the new ones—especially James, who did an excellent job with the line deliveries.

If you plan to play on Hard like I did, good luck! By the end of the game, you’ll be exhausted. I actually expected an achievement for beating the game on Hard (but there isn’t one), so I recommend playing on Normal for a better overall experience.

What else can I say about this game besides that it’s fantastic? It’s a 10/10: beautiful graphics, great gameplay.

There is one thing they could improve, though—interacting with objects and grabbing ammo. You have to aim the central dot at the ammo box to pick it up, which becomes a hassle, especially during boss fights. This led to several deaths for me near the end.

Yes, the price is high, but it’s worth it. You get New Game+ (which I believe includes new content), and you’re supporting Konami and Bloober Team for their great work in finally releasing this long-awaited remake.

Should have listened to ESG detected. There are two moments that It felt like it was something that came from someone that works in SweetBaby Inc...

Still, the game is different, I will not blatantly say this game is ♥♥♥♥ just because of two dialogues, but buyers beware

HAHAHAH I cant play the game, fun game !

Edit:

When I have managed to play this game, I discovered that Payday 2 is by far the best purchase.

This game is hot garbage, I tried to get a refund out of this (and I usually don't go for refunds)

But I dislike this, it is bad BAD !

I hate to see this **** on my library, what waste of money.

Very cool game, I am not a big fan of open endings tho.

I feel like this game could be better optimised when it comes to PC I guess.

But I still give a 8.5 out of 10.

Very tricky to review this one here, so I will just say the good parts and the bad ones:

Good parts:
- You can see more about Rose, her past and who she is.
- 3rd view camera (nothing new there, but you may like it)
- It feels like a survival situation, specially playing on Hardcore.
- Longer than what I expected

Bad / To be improved:
- I didn`t die a lot, but there is a few stages that is very unclear where you should go (you die because of that)
- I wish there was more information about her, more cutscenes, this is the first official game with Rose and they had a chance to tell all about her and they didn`t
- Rose feels like a turtle when you`re being chased

Overall a good DLC, wish there was more but yeah... Pretty expensive for few hours of gameplay

Definitely a must have if you`re a RE fan
