I think this game has LOTS of potential. But in its current state, I can’t recommend the game. Although the devs released the game claiming it is a finished product, it feels like it’s in its alpha state.

From what I’ve played, it seems that the game’s objective is to create a potion that will cure the village. You need to bring various ingredients to the cauldron to brew a potion. The way this works is like a code breaker game, showing you which ingredients are in the right spot, how many of those should be in the potion and which aren’t in the potion at all, etc.

While hunting for those ingredients you will find many monsters on your path. You can either try to kill them, run away, or fail and die.


This seems fun, why don’t you recommend it?

Although the gameplay seems fun in theory, the game is filled with many bugs, unfinished features and annoying mechanics that make the game basically unplayable.

- Monsters can hit you through walls.

- Monsters camp the doors of buildings, making it impossible to escape certain spaces.

- There is not a clear indicator which ingredients can be places inside the cauldron, and which can’t.

- The ingredient list only updates after you put in all ingredients, making it quite difficult in multiplayer to see if a teammate already added certain ingredients and how many you have left to add.

- The lever for emptying the cauldron does not work flawlessly. It can take a few tries before it finally does what it is designed to do.

- Dead players have an insanely big hitbox, making it impossible for teammates to access spaces someone died in front of.

- You get stuck on invisible walls quite often, glitching back a few meters as a result. Not ideal when getting chased.

- Hitting items and monsters is quite difficult, as those hitboxes don’t match the length of your stick. You need to hug it closely to be able to hit anything.

- Too little inventory slots. Current amount of lots is 3. I think 5 base slots would already be a big quality of life improvement with the ability to add more slots using coins.

- All players have the same colour, mask, clothing. Making it extremely difficult to differentiate friends. Not a dealbreaker but could use improvement.

- The map is empty and could use a lot of work.

- Starting the game will glitch you in the carriage. Again, no dealbreaker, but could use work.

- Starting and closing the game completely ♥♥♥♥♥ with your screen resolution. The apps/games I had open were messed up.


I will keep an eye out for any updates and hope the devs will change the store page stating it to be “early access”. I would be very excited to give this another try once the stated issues have been fixed.



TLDR: Don't buy the game in its current state. The game has lots of potential, but needs a few updates and improvements to make this worth playing.

In my honest opinion I enjoyed playing this game, even though I have only played 1 match so far. I think this game has lots of potential. Too bad there are not any active players as of now, hence why I have not been able to play more than just 1 game.

I tried the game live on stream. Thankfully 2 generous viewers were willing to try out the game with me, to at least experience it. I had a blast. It feels a bit clunky at times, sure, but giving the fact is it in early access, I am willing to believe it is just a matter of time before the devs come with lots of new updates and improvement... that is, if the games manages to attract more people.
Although the default music is not really my taste, I saw there's an option to use songs/maps created by the community. That on it's own seems like an amazing concept! But... then again, only 1 person so far seems to have uploaded a song/map.

I don't want the game to die, but it seems there is not option of playing the game if there aren't any players. Quick play is not an option either, so you need someone to hosts, rather than the game creating a random lobby for you where the participants can vote the map + songs. I can definitely understand that a lot of people don't like the idea of hosting a game and waiting for someone else to host one instead can be quite a hassle.

I hope this game will be promoted more and properly! I have not heard a word about this game until I tried looking for fun rhythm games on steam. I'd love to see this game with a medium to high player base at some point. for now, all I can do is mention the game and hope for the best :) Good luck!

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this game. Needed a quick game to play on stream (twitch). I expected to play this for 30 minutes and move on to the next game, but ended up streaming this game for 6 hours (normally stream 4 hours). My chat had a lot of fun trying to figure out the words. Definitely gonna continue playing this game and figure out the whole story! 10/10.

Edit: I remember getting so obsessed with the game that I had to force myself to stop. There were endings that I had not explored but knew where there, I felt like I was missing so much and wanted to know more and more about the story. This was WHILE I was streaming. Seeing that there is now a new update, makes me really want to get into this again.

This game is so simple yet so intriguing... the developers have honestly done an amazing job.

My review used to be positive, but has changed for several reasons.

Although I initially liked how much there's added, it's given 0 thought.
- "Speedrunner" achievement is now nearly, if not at all, impossible. The achievement was already difficult to get your hands on. With at least 20 to 40 minutes worth of content added, why is the achievement still 35 minutes???? Litterally a slap in the face.

- When dying in the parking level, make sure you don't fall down in any of the holes.. If you do, you're stuck there until your time runs out, as the door does NOT spawn there and there's no way for you to climb up :) (also you can't spectate, you won't be able to follow your alive teammates, due to ladder issue that got you stuck in the first place)

- Sound bugs. Bacteria entity footsteps are only audible for the Host??? why is that not fixed yet?

- Probably many other issues that I haven't seen. I was too annoyed to continue playing.

This used to be my favaourite backrooms game. I love the idea that the devs were going for, but I am quite dissapointed with how this feels like a "quanitity over quality" situation.
