Recommend this... yes. It sold me on watching the television series of Battlestar Galactica and pretty much the whole franchise, so it'd be hard to say no.

The game is a turn based 3D strategy game, in space. The 3D is full 3D, however, ships can't maneuver freely, like in say Homeworld. Instead, ships are given movement orders on the horizontal plane, and a vertical maneuver is assigned after the horizontal movement order is given.

The battles in the game rely on positioning, a lot. Not just positioning your own units to concentrate fire onto isolated enemies, but your ships also have variable weaponry emplacements and armour thickness. The Artemis Class Battlestar has a formidable amount of firepower on it's dorsal side. Yet on it's ventral surface, it's very much an easy target. Other ships have strengths suited to back line placement, or serving as the frontline bullet sponges for a fleet. Some ships are fast and can flank, some ships stay with the group. Some derive their power from guns, some from munitions, some from carriers and Battlestars derive from all 3 at once. The multiplayer community continues to debate what are good fleets and the niche for ships and still holds tournaments.

And finally... how the game looks. I have 480 screenshots on my hard drive, not counting GIFs and videos to be made into GIFs. It is a delight to pause battles during intense moments and snap screenshots. And the game's autocam system can provide some excellent screenshots, even for those who don't have the time to try and line up things themselves.
