In-depth summary of pros and cons with summary below

As one of my first games in which I completed all achievements, I would like to provide you an in-depth analysis of the game's merits and shortcomings so you can decide if it's a suitable fit for you.

👍 Strengths 👍

This game is quite similar to the original SUPERHOT, but it has much more gameplay and certain additional abilities or skills known as the "hacks." For fans of the original SUPERHOT, this game is an excellent purchase. However, keep in mind that SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE deviates from the original SUPERHOT by integrating "hacks" that provide variety to the game's content.

👎 Weaknesses 👎

In contrast to the original SUPERHOT, which featured a storyline, the new SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE features just randomized levels with connection to one another. Each "node" (sort of like levels within a framework) will generate a randomized number of rounds based on an established collection of maps, resulting in a large number of repetitions. Furthermore, as enemies become increasingly difficult, finishing late-game "nodes" becomes increasingly difficult with a little margin of error where a few mistake movements can cause you to restart from the beginning for that specific "node".

Furthermore, while there is no doubt that "hacks" bring diversity to the gameplay, not all "hacks" are useful. For each "node," you begin the game with a set number of "hit points," and every two to three rounds, you are given the choice of selecting a hack from a pair of options (or simply just "heal" yourself). The "hacks" you get to choose from are entirely dependent on chance, and you may be given absolutely godlike "hacks" or completely meaningless "hacks" across the entire "node". In essence, you POINT-CLICK-DELETE foes using godlike "hacks" while you RUN-STRUGGLE-DIE from enemies when you are simply given "useless hacks" to choose from.

In addition, the placement and spawning of enemies in this game is so randomized and spontaneous that failing a "node" is unavoidable at some point (for example, I have been in levels where I am spawned in the middle of nowhere with no throwable around at all and the enemies are already firing at me).

Finally, one aspect that I find is both tough and annoying at times is the introduction of bosses. The bosses are an excellent addition. I adore them. However, they should never be allowed to spawn close to the player. I have encountered cases when I am at the final round on a "node" and a siren sounds (indicating that the boss is approaching). It spawned directly on the spawning location behind me, and the nearest enemy was across the map. There is no way I can kill that enemy to end that round in time before the boss wipes all of my "hit points" to zero (bear in mind that bosses cannot be killed, you can only run away from them). While I would not be upset if this happened in the middle of the "node," I am on my final round on that particular "node" and will have to restart from the beginning. Although bosses are often easy to evade, having the boss spawn relatively close to you while enemies are far away on your final round in a "node" is not funny or entertaining.

💡 Final words 💡

In conclusion, I would like to state that this game is a continuation of the original SUPERHOT, thus it is strongly recommended that you check into that game as well as potentially my review as well a better understanding. Meanwhile, I will add the link to that game here. Nonetheless, if you enjoyed the original SUPERHOT, I would strongly recommend purchasing this game.

Short: the wildest killing spree simulator. You kick, you smash, you destroy. Rinse and repeat.

Long: this game is a solid choice with two game modes. The first game mode takes place in a random public area, with the goal of being the last one standing. Great for venting your real-life frustrations on these poor NPC souls. The second game mode is a story mode, in which you set out to explore a hellish location. This mode is both difficult and annoying at the same time. With only one life and no chance of retrieval, it is either finished or restarted from the beginning. Honestly, I think the second game mode could be slightly improved by giving some hints as to where the "exits" are on each map, as looking for them is like looking for a needle in a haystack, which means you need an enormous amount of luck to find it while running away from tons of enemies. Nonetheless, this game is a great buy for relieving real-life annoyances.

After playing and completing nearly all the achievements in this game, I believe I am in a good position to inform any potential players who are considering purchasing it. In this review, I will go over its general characteristics with you so you can decide if this is a good fit for you.

To start with, this game is set in a fictional apocalyptic world and is played in 2.5D (not 3D), with the main character viewed from a top-down perspective. Throughout the game, you have a limited field of view. The gameplay is generally very relaxing (there are some challenging components, but they are mostly doable without sweating over the keyboards). So, if you are looking for a 3D, hard-core, realistic survival game, this is probably not the cup of tea for you. However, if you are the type of player who is generally laid back and wants to burn off some free time without committing too much attention and energy to some games, this game is a great choice. The price is well worth the amount of content in this game and can provide a good few days of entertainment, even if you are rushing through the main storyline. However, I believe that this game is best played in a relaxed setting where you want to burn some time but cannot commit to several hours at once.

The gameplay is generally satisfactory, with a decent storyline (I will not go into details because I do not want to spoil it for anyone) centered on crafting and upgrading gear. Crafting is more of a "set" framework in which you create specific equipment that is pre-determined by the system and usually remains with you throughout the journey. The map is open-world in certain regards (it is set on a massive island), but you do not get to see it from a first-person perspective. Aside from the main storyline, you are also able to engage in side quests as well as farming, fishing, and building your base. In general, I believe the game strikes a good balance between "relaxing" and "entertaining". It is similar to a virtual story in which you progress and play through.

After discussing its strengths, I would like to focus on some of its shortcomings. First and foremost, this is mostly a single-player game with limited options for cooperative play with friends. Furthermore, you are the sole survivor in this entire game world, and things can become exhausting near the end due to a lack of interaction between you and anyone else (not even NPC). In addition, as your equipment improves and becomes more powerful, the original survival challenge diminishes dramatically to the point where you are simply slaughtering the "enemies," and the risk of getting killed is non-existent (unless you make some really stupid mistake like falling off the cliff or something). All of this, combined with the fact that you are always viewing the main character from a top-down perspective, can be quite frustrating near the end, as you do not get to see much breathtaking scenery.

Having said that, I would say this game is a good buy for idle players, but probably not for those looking for dedicated, realistic survival elements in games. If you have any further questions, get in touch with me, and I will be happy to answer them.
