Early Access Review
An interesting mix-up on the swarm defense sub-genre combined with (literal) base-building adds new layers of strategy and complexity. Curious to see where it will go as it progresses through Early Access.

A fine game in its own right. As long as you don't go into this expecting another Dark Souls-like game. I think that it is more comparible to a stealth game like Tenchu.

Early Access Review
For having been released to early access more than two years ago, it still feels pretty lacking in substance and content updates are pretty far apart. If it were only recently released, I would be favorably speaking of its potential. It's beginning to feel like this may just be another game that isn't going to make it out of Early Access (or at least not in a state anything close to what was advertised as the "final product").

A shame, as this looked like an interesting game that I have been following for a while.

Early Access Review
Fast-paced, fluid, fun, and stylish. This feels like if Devil May Cry was reborn as an FPS, and I love it.
So much so that I replayed the episode again after getting all the achievements just to show it off to friends.

The gameplay is mostly action/skills and gunplay, with minor RPG elements of gaining XP from (some) kills and using them to unlock skills. You can unlock all skills in two playthroughs and it completely changes the playstyle once you do. With all skills unlocked and me in the zone, I felt like a gun-wizard: hovering in the air, stopping time, and electrocuting enemies all while raining down bullets on their poor forms. But not truly overpowered, as getting careless would still get you bullet/sword/axe-riddled and dead. The grapple-beam is also a fun feature that aided in the fluid feeling of combat.

As the game grows, I would like to see more variety in the skills, weapons, enemies, and puzzles. There are only 3 guns, a few minor platforming sections, and one token puzzle in the game right now. Of course, more of the story would be good as well.

I see a lot of potential in this game and would really love to see it grow. What there is right now is a bit short -- I beat the episode 4 times and got all achievements in under 3hr (even with my characteristic digging around for secrets). But for the price, that is not bad and I had a blast doing it.

I'm flat out blown away by the fact that this was mostly made by a single person. I'll be watching this closely and hope to see more out of it. HIGHLY recommend

Yet another once-good MMO gutted and repackaged to bank off of that sweet "freemium" micro-transaction paradigm.

Back when it was "The Secret World" it was an outstanding MMO with interesting and unique depth to both the story and the battle/gameplay mechanics. Now that it is "Secret World Legends" it is a dumbed-down husk of the original form -- with the only remaining originality and depth being in the story that was kept.

As a side note: it is a bit irritating that they are still counting the positive reviews for the original version towards this "remake", given how much was changed and that you are forced to start over, keeping virtually nothing from the previous version.

Unfortunately, this is another one of those games that was good when it hit Early Access, but lost its charm -- along with most reasons to like it -- on the way to full release.

I played the heck out of the first game and played this sequel when it first hit Early Access. I liked what they already had and where it was heading. I stopped playing for a while and recently came back to v1.1; I was wholly underwhelmed and disappointed by what I was met with.

I would have recommended the version from when I last played (over a year ago), but I can't recommend it as it is now.

Somewhat light on the puzzles but heavy on the story, atmosphere, and world building. Puzzles felt like they fit into the story/world well. Sound and voice acting were remarkably well done all across the board, too. I thoroughly enjoyed this little adventure and all of its charm and shock (things can get a bit dark at some points).

Too clunky for a stealth experience while being too scripted, methodical, and repetitive to be a scary one.

TL,DR: If you liked the main game, you likely won't like this; if you like polished stealth games, you likely will be frustrated by this; and if you like horror games, you likely will be bored with this.

This DLC takes the concept of a forced stealth section (as would be considered the low point in most games they are featured in) and simply strings them together, one after the other. It plays out as: exposition, stealth sequence, exposition, stealth sequence, and so forth. "Stealth" may not even be the right word as most sequences have only a single "correct" approach that the devs intended you to use. Functionally, it is mostly trial and error (often to find that one approach the devs wanted) and the few, admittedly good, moments of tension created quickly get lost in the repetition. In this way, it is a bland puzzle game disguised as a clunky stealth game disguised as a bad horror game.

I had fun with the main game (The Evil Within) overall, but agreed that it missed the mark on being a frightening experience. I appreciate the devs trying something a bit different for a DLC, but this is "throwing the baby out with the bath water", as the saying goes. And even then, it gets more frustrating than frightening as the DLC goes on.

If you want to know the story and the (rather few) plot holes it addresses... just watch a Youtuber slog through it. To be honest though, the story isn't hard to predict if you are the least bit genre-savvy. Furthermore, it seems to meander in its own plot and doesn't addresses much from the main game (as this DLC's own description said that it would).

Overall impression: a lukewarm experience that drowns its better parts with repetition and clunky mechanics that feels like it has little to no connection to the base game.

I got this game on sale for 0.25$... and I don't know if it was even worth that. I feel almost embarassed to have this in my library.
