as this is the only other game than rust that I've broken 1k hours on I can tell you right now, I can't honestly recommend this right now until we see what the relaunch looks like. I enjoyed this game when I was apart of a company, I used to catch up on what happened on the server with @JChalant on youtube(who still posts daily reports of the El Dorado server even now). The territory influence runs were intense, and the territory wars were amazing. However New World wasn't an enjoyable PVE solo experience, when the servers died down, my company disbanded, I stayed solo and realized how much of this game was reliant on the MMO aspect than the RPG aspect. Now don't get me wrong, I did enjoy grinding certain skills. In fact, until the next skillcap was increased, I was maxed in fishing and music which back then was mind numbing to grind at times and had little to useless rewards when it came to the economy. However what made fishing worth it was exploring the entire map and finding stunning locations to see. at 4k I can tell you some overlooks in edengrove are absolutely wallpaper worthy, and finding people to set up an impromptu band in windsward never got old. All in all, I don't think games like this have a naturally short lifespan and I can only say that New world was coming to its near end at an average of 2200 players in the past month for ALL SERVERS, there is no more new blood to pump into the game. Wait until the next relaunch, when new blood comes in and the old tryhards have to figure out whats meta again, then I'd say that would be the best time to experience this game.
