Fun, beautiful, subtle. A game that starts out as one thing and then becomes something far more sinister and engaging. Really great.

I can count on one hand the number of games that have made me cry, and this is one of them. While the puzzles were an interesting take on coding, the art is a lovely pixel style, the audio is great, and the story is what really shines here. An inspiration to creatives everywhere. Excellent work.

Better graphics, more detail, better UX… sure it’s Early Access, but it’s Kerbal! A small step forward for Jeb, a giant leap for Kerbal fans everywhere!

Relaxing. Meditative. Addictive in a calming way. The game can be played for beauty or strategy, and has the effect of making all other stresses disappear.

An addictive optimization game. So many options to customize your vehicles, while figuring out how to streamline your assembly line, avoid bottlenecks, and keep ahead of the competition. This is one of those games where I lose hours and wonder where time went. Challenging and complex, but a joy for people who love system management.

It's very pretty. I will play "parts" of it again when my VR headset arrives. But in terms of gameplay, it's repetitive without challenge, and in terms of story, it's confusing and poorly constructed. But hey, it looks good!

This game is a slow burn (pun intended), a "Gone Home" of the outdoors. It's very beautiful, with a story to tell about relationships and responsibility, but it's neither a puzzler nor an adventure game. It's a walking simulator, and a relaxing one at that. What tension exists is all in your head, but that's the point of relationships; we create our own tension.

Only downside were a few "hidden object" issues, where I wasn't sure were to look or where to find the next thing to do.

Worth playing for a relaxing, contemplative afternoon, and for the amazing, picturesque scenery.

The Witness is a puzzle game, yes, but it is also about learning, discovery, philosophy, religion, understanding yourself and the world. This is both a game, and art, and if you are a person who enjoys repeated "Ah Ha!" moments, this is the game for you. Rich in depth and beauty, any "ending" of the game merely unlocks new areas that remain to be discovered. Completing the "main area" took about half the time as every other thing I subsequently discovered, and I still am awed by the beauty and intricate details that I continue to find scattered purposefully around this island.

You will not like this game if your idea of fun is blowing stuff up, shooting zombies or nazis, racing quickly, trash talking, achievement hoarding, a talky-story (although there is excellent spoken dialog), or instant rewards for solving the tiniest challenge. This is a thinking game, a game about enlightnment and what it means to understand, fully, pretty much anything.

Some complained that $40 was too expensive. I feel it is too cheap, because the takeaways are probably equivalent to college courses on mathematics, logic, science, philosophy, and comparative religion, rolled into a highly entertaining experience.
