I can't speak for nostalgia because I've been born shortly after the turn of the millenium, but playing this? It just feels like a worse Prey (2017) my favourite game of all time. I had hoped it would be like Prey, and it is very like Prey but it lacks some immersive-ness, notably environmental combat, throwing objects to distract or damage enemies, a more robust recycle and storage system, and the bigger variety of permanent upgrades of both weapons and the player.

As a remake it might be great—and it plays very smoothly and looks great with its retro graphics too—but as a game it's just so so for me. For anyone liking this, do yourself a favour and also play Prey.

That all being said, the game is fun and unique enough that I ultimately find enjoying myself more than not.
