Sid Meier was obviously one of mankind's greatest inventors of all times. In the early 1700's, he came up with an invention that would revolutionize the transportation industry for ages to come. Yes, that's right kids, I am talking about the train. Sid Meier, thus, could be considered to be the father of modern civilization. This is why in the year 2013, Firaxis studios decided to honor his name in the strategy game Sid Meier's Civilization V. The early game is extremely weak, and as a matter of fact, trains are not acquired until the industrial revolution is achieved, however, this should not discourage the average player from rushing railways. Railways are worth every single gold coin spent on them. Trains may be considered inbalanced for many Civilization V players, however, they are available to every civilization and are a decisive factor in every single game. If you like trains, and you like sodomizing Rome, look no further, Civilization V is right up your alley.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a four-sided shape? Well look no further! Thomas was Alone is the best quadrilateral simulator on the market. You can play as a square, a rectangle, a slightly longer rectangle, a slightly longer rectangle with inverted dimensions, and many more! This game is narrated, so if you are deaf, you might have some trouble listening to the narration, however, the game developer thought about you deaf people and added text to go along with the narration. Overall, the game has a very pleasing atmosphere and you get to play as many quadrilaterals, who befriend each other, betray each other, and fall in love with each other. If you think being a shape is boring, I'd recommend you buy this game and give it a spin, I enjoyed it.

Transhumanism. If Cave Story's plot could be put into one word, that would be it. You play as the genocidal robot, Quote. Your mission? Commiting genocide. Your whole body has been replaced by a robot's and you are tasked with the simple and menial task of removing all furry creatures from an island in the sky. The game explores the deep and philosophical questions that an android such as yourself would have after having lost his complete body to a train accident. Along the way, you will befriend many allies, including a couple of human beings, a dragon, and a professor who will manage to upgrade your systems like your creators never imagined. All in all, it has solid gameplay, I played the free version before the steam one came out and I honestly feel bad that the developer only sees a couple of pennies from every game sold, since Nicalis loves to localize games like that.

Proteus is a game I am particularly fond of myself, you play as a shipwrecked pirate captain, who finds himself lost in an island where nobody wants to be his friend. The moment you set foot on the island, you seal your fate. You make your best attempts at befriending the local population, but your wooden peg and eyepatch give it away, nobody wants to be a pirate's friend. You will traverse the scenery of this barren land, only to find an ancient spell that was cast on it many seasons past. Will mastering the ancient spell cast on the island allow you to befriend the local population and maybe recover your eye and leg, or are those sacrifices long past behind you?

Blood's pretty alright. Guns are okay. Knives are cool too. You play as Jacket, a man who still believes in the magic of halloween, and who might just own too many animal masks for his own good. The game is set in the fictional city of Miami, in the year 1980. A couple of years before the events in Hotline Miami take place, Miami had been planning for the biggest halloween party the world had ever seen. But one spelling error in the order settled Miami's fate for years to come, an order of over 400 'mobsters' instead of 'monsters' came in, and unleashed havoc in Miami, effectively ruining halloween forever, unless you can bring it back.

The apocalypse has finally dawned upon mankind. Men and women from all around the world gather around to see society's collapse. An alien beam has pulverized all means of transportation on rails, and civilization as we know it has crumbled. The morale of humans as a species is at an all time low, and apathy reigns over the shadow of the world that once was. Apathy such, that it is up to a group of four survivors to clean the world, and eliminate all evidence of trains ever existing, so that mankind may start anew.

Adam Jensen, a man who has it all, loses everything when he is run over by a man with train augmentations. Working as head of security for some company in future Detroit, Adam undergoes surgery that is critical to save his life. Every part that is attached to him is crucial for his survival, from his sunglasses, that tint the world yellow, to the augmentation that allows him to shoot fragmentation grenades in all directions. If you want an experience that borders the limits between man and machine, you should play Railworks Train Simulator 20XX. If you want to play a fun stealth/action game with a deep storyline for today's standards, play Deus Ex Human Revolution. It's some good stuff. 8.5/10.
