This game won't be always fun to play, but the satisfaction you get when you beat that one boss that has been wiping you for the last 30 minutes is unequaled with anything you've ever played, in my opinion. It isn't the most beautiful game you'll play(graphically-wise), but it really doesn't matter. I think Bloodborne is FromSoftware's magnum opus, but DS3 is a runner-up for sure!

The art direction is spectacular and the game design in general is very well thought out. The areas are full of chests (also mimics), items that fill in lore pieces, and NPC's that affect each playthrough of yours. The enemy designs are accurately created to cause a newbie a feeling of threat and fear, so that, when beat, the player gets the satisfaction they need to keep going.

I also can't dismiss the sound design. There isn't any music in any of the non-boss areas, except the hub area, but when there is, it's incredible to listen to. However music isn't there just to accompany the boss, but to also give you hints about the pattern that the boss is using against you.

A masterpiece.

Early Access Review
-TL:DR Get a group of friends to buy the game and you'll have a lot of fun playing it.
This is a game that is going to last over 70 hours of playtime. Even the "boring" parts (chopping down trees for example) of it are fun, if you have friends with you.
On the topic of exploration, I get Minecraft vibes all the time. The world is procedurally generated (hence the game needs only 500MB of space) and has different biomes to explore, each with different enemies as well. Exploring the world gives you this feeling of adventure and suspense, as you don't know what you'll find next.
The crafting system is great and it also reminds me o Minecraft. They put a lot of time and effort building it for sure.
I haven't encountered bugs or glitches in the 30 hours I've played before writing this review and I feel like it is in a much better state than many other Early-Access games on Steam.
The graphics aren't realistic but it doesn't matter at all. It actually looks amazing with the "low-poly" characters and assets. The soundtrack is good but I don't think that it is of much importance to talk about it.
Why are you even reading this review? Get the game!!

The fast paced combat, unique art style and storytelling of this game are amazing. The game developers created the areas you explore, having two simple goals in their mind: non guided exploration and suitable areas for combat. In my opinion, this is how Metroidvania games should be created. You reach any secret or tricky area, just by exploring your surroundings gingerly, while other games of the same genre require an ability you gain later in the game. The combat style reminds me of the combat style Souls-like games have, but it's more simplistic. While in combat in Hyper Light Drifter, you use your Sword and your two Guns, combined with the ability to drift in any direction you want, you have an engaging combat style. I cannot recommend this game enough.
