Despite the symbolism being very on the nose, Kojima does his usual magic by making it work. The story is great, the characters are great, the acting is great, the visuals are great, the setting is great. The gameplay is fun, and it feels extremely good to build lasting structures with the help of other online players, even if you never see your fellow players - only what they do.

You go from jumps and airdashes to double jumps to triple jumps to double dashes to rising spin attacks with height modifiers to wall running and wall jumping to the hover boot effect from oot where you have a momentary platform when walking off things
Even at its most basic there’s a subtle mechanic where for a second after a drop you can activate your normal jump
You can chain all this together to get mad height or distance
