Playing with friends is a blast, I LOVE the detail and passion shown in this game!
I can see myself playing this for a very long time. Go deliver some LIBER-TEA!!!

EDIT: This is one of my favorite games. I'm changing my review to hopefully give Arrowhead some more pull with Sony, hopefully reverting their recent changes.
The game is fantastic, and it should be enjoyed by all. Keep up the great work regardless, Arrowhead Studios.

EDIT2: An hour after I did this review change, Sony backed down on forcing PSN. Wonderful game, we won.

Update Dec. 12, 2024: Helldivers 2 wins two awards at TGA, and Illuminate is hot-dropped on us. Fantastic game, and my personal Game of the Year!

As of the first day of EA release, I'm impressed! There's a solid foundation here for them to build on, and I'm looking forward to more! I'm enjoying the milsim-esque CQB, it scratches an itch that Arma can't for me.

I'm really enjoying myself with this one. Can't wait for the content updates, and I hope they continue this for a while. After doing the audio fix for performance, and lowering my quality (I don't mind it), the game runs fine.

Absolutely wonderful game, love it to bits!

There's a lot I like about this game, from the graphics, to the sound, to the details and atmosphere.

However...

So many hackers and people spam sliding. This isn't Apex.

Guns have high recoil/bullet spread and do so little damage it's laughable. Well... it would be if 90% of the times I die, I didn't rage. That's saying something because I'm super chill and never rage at games. I'm okay with dying, I'm okay with being at the bottom of the scoreboard. As long as I'm having fun during it. This is a game I tried really hard to enjoy, even with most people saying it sucks.

I tried and failed.

I hope a lot of the QoL improvements come to BF 2042, but I really hope they remove sliding, improve the anti-cheat regularly, and make the game feel a lot more like BF4.

I'm loving this game

Alright so, I am a person who can easily find enjoyment in any game. I can see the fun in almost anything.
However this is one of the few games I've played, where I find myself getting angry more than anything. Which is rare for me.
The idea of a Robin Hood style heist is super fun! Then I found out it's PvPvE. Okay, not as hype but I can try it out. (I'm definitely more of a PvE coop enjoyer).

I find the combat to be... lackluster. Some of the classes seem terribly unbalanced. In my personal experience, Marianne is the bane of my existence. I can just never beat her no matter how hard I try. The weird meta of distracting your opponent in melee combat, while your buddy in plain sight constantly crouch-runs behind them for that assassination kill is really dumb in my opinion.

Matchmaking-wise: maybe I'm unlucky, but I constantly am on a team with low level players like myself, while going against teams of level 70's-100's. Not only is that a huge difference in terms of experience and skill, it's a huge difference in perks. (as far as I'm aware).

I really wanna like this game because it seems like it could be a regular game I play but in it's current state, I just end up getting mad more than anything.

As someone with over 5,500 hours in VR, this is my favorite game hands down.

Play it. Treat yourself to a good experience. It's incredibly worth it.
