TUNIC is one of the most awesome games I've ever played, and there's a LOT of stuff I'd like to talk about. However, I wont actually say much in this review at all, because TUNIC is a game that's best experienced without looking up anything about it beforehand. So, I'll be talking very "generally" about the game, rather than getting into specific aspects of it.

Let's get the obvious out of the way: The game, as you could probably tell just by looking at the store page, takes a lot of inspiration from The Legend Of Zelda, and has a similar format (Explore the world, enter dungeons, collect items, etc.), so if you're a fan of that series, you'll probably love TUNIC. However, there are other sources of inspiration that become apparent during gameplay. The combat is much more difficult than in most Legend Of Zelda games, and alongside the savepoint/enemy respawn mechanics, takes more inspiration from Dark Souls. The game is also filled with puzzles and secrets, with puzzle-solving becoming a bigger element the more you progress. I've not played Fez, but I've heard it's similar to it in that regard, and was one of the inspirations for TUNIC. With that being said, despite the heavy inspiration, the game is still very unique, and still has a strong Identity of its own!

The visuals in this game are gorgeous. It has a cartoony aesthetic combined with fantastic lighting. While you might think the artstyle might hinder it from showing detail or making things look all that great due to its simplicity, you'd be wrong! Aesthetic, themes, and style are all things this game does an amazing job with.

And tying into all that, besides visuals, there's also the audio aspect. From the music to the sound effects, this game is great to listen to. While the game does have intense tracks for more intense moments and bossfights in the game (and other equally-fitting music for other moments throughout), they take a slightly different approach than The Legend Of Zelda does for many of it's overworld tracks: Rather than sounding super energetic, a lot of the games tracks sound more relaxing and ethereal, giving the game a bit of a calmer vibe to it despite still being an action-packed and adventure-filled game. You may think this would come across as conflicting, but considering the amount of time you'll spend exploring after defeating the enemies in an overworld area vs. the amount of time the fight takes itself, the beautiful music ends up pairing with the amazing visuals very well. Overall, an incredible soundtrack that makes the game stand out even more than it already does!

There's often been times when writing this review where I wanted to get into more detail, or talk about how amazing certain gameplay elements are or how great the story is, but I really, REALLY think that you should just get the game and see it all for yourself! If you're still on the fence at this point, get off the fence and get this game! And stop reading stuff about it, you don't want to spoil yourself! I mean it!
