Updated review as of January 20'th; 2022:

We still have a GREAT need for it to be easier to group layers together.
A a function making it possible to merge all layers together mid-build would be massively helpful - at least for me.
Since I bought this software back in May of 2017 I have clocked 600+ hours and made 150+ maps for the Roll20 game I DM.
DPS is what it is almost solely due the workshop - Thank you modders!

I waited a year to "upgrade" to DPS v.2.0...
I'm going to "downgrade" in moment, but wanted to put in my 2 cents first, and compare to the original edition, besides rating this edition against actual functionality (all in accordance with my own experiences).

Pros:
- Lighting Options Added
- Windows and Doors with lighting effects
- Shadows for buildings and assets in relation to lightsources
- Create rooms with both floor and walls instantly added and synched
- Ability to create floors
- Ability to create an area filled with specific assets (as shown with trees)
- Ability to set hight differences for assets that affect the shadow/light

Cons:
- Unable to access Steam overlay
- Unable to import new mods
- Unable to update our own mods
- Unable to import assets
- Unable to import templates
- Unable to load/open maps made with old DPS
- Bug report option is itself bugged and sends (at least) me to a blank URL
- Door/Window heavily limited; unable to use door/window assets from mods as door/window
- Slow search function
- Unintuitive U.I.
- No update to the Beta since January 31'st; 2021

Conclusion:
Old DPS might be falling heavily behind on the market, but as of right now, just over a year after DPS v.2.0 launched its Beta, it's still highly functional compared to to "upgrade".

I've never been a fan of the site.. But I might actually start to consider turning to DungeonFog, for my map-making purposes.
