Elite Dangerous is one of those games where you buy it, play for a bit, and you either walk away from it forever, not thinking much of it, or it grabs you and before you know it, you're a couple hundred € deep in peripherals.

E:D is my comfort zone, it’s the game I return to when I’m not sure what to do. But it’s also the game I’m, nearly constantly looking for the next update to, as Frontier has made and continues to make great strides in regard to content, QoL, and bug fixing, and have proven time and time again they don’t mind going back and fixing something that doesn’t work.

What E:D won’t give you is a neatly curated experience with a well told story. What E:D gives you is a ship, 1000 credits, and a vague idea of how to make more, how you do that, is up to you. You can bounty hunt, mine, go exploring in the galaxy with over 400 billion systems, all generated using data about how we know systems form in our actual galaxy, or you can do missions for various factions.

The most important thing you can do, is set yourself a goal, for some, that’ll be getting the biggest ships, others will want the fattest wallet, or maybe you just want to kick Thargoid’s back to their own region of space. Or you might even want to pirate your fellow players of their hard-earned credits.

Whatever you choose, Elite allows it, and you’ll find many devoted player groups that can add an entirely new way to play the game.

But beware, there will be grind. Bring a second screen, watch some TV shows.

Fly safe, CMDR.
