This is a game about making graphs go up!
I'm clicking buttons to make graphs go up, yet it causes other graphs to fall down!?
I've spent over 20 hours clicking buttons to make graphs go up, then clicking more buttons when other graphs fall down??
I'm stuck in an endless loop of clicking buttons to make graphs go up and down.

What's the point? I don't know, there might be a game here... but monkey will now go back to clicking buttons to make graphs go up and down!

I'm just going to say I like this game a lot. It's a great mix between xcom2 and Gears Tactics,

I'm also going to say that a vast number of so called "40k fans" on the forum don't know lore nearly as good as they think they do, don't know the history of the tabletop game and seem to have no idea what a turn based tactics game actually is. If anything I want a refund on the braincells lost looking in there.

Aight' look, this game made me feel happy things, almost made me feel like a teen playing GRID (2008) again.

Far as I can tell they tried to recreate 2008 and I think they did a pretty good Job. While the story isn't groundbreaking, it's perfectly serviceable and by racing game standards quite alright... It's pretty girthy at 30+ races, even if it feels padded at times. The first two story races are a bit underwhelming, but it really gets going a few races in.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, try starting on the "expert" setting, it turns off all assists but ABS (low). In my opinion most of the assists make the cars handle worse and feel sluggish. See if you can do well enough in the story mode on expert, if you're significantly overshooting the story objectives try putting the AI up to legend, or vice verca if it's a bit hard.

Looks pretty amazing when the weather effects are in force and during the night races. Oh, and the soundtrack is amazing if that matters to you, does to me.

I ain't no reviewer but I felt the need to give this a thumbs up, I really am loving this game.

Ps: Devs please release the soundtrack in some form, pretty please?

Milage may vary.

I'm not hard to please when it comes to expansions and DLC for games I love and while I do love this game, I sadly have to say you should not get this "expansion" in its current state, with a few qualifiers.

There is simply not enough to it, the flashpoints while nice additions are nothing more than some light story context to regular contracts. There is very little custom or bespoke about the actual battle missions, I'd hazzard only about 1/4th of the chains have anything special and when they do it's usually just a single special enemy mech, maybe an AI companion taking one of your drop slots. They're not all bad, one or two were actually quite good with some custom content but the vast majority are almost impossible to tell apart from a standard contract.

Even worse, since all of them have the standard win/fail conditions some of them outright conflict with said context and it kind of breaks the narrative. The possibility of getting some rare tech from the flashpoints is nice, but outside of two specific chains you are not really guaranteed anything. I saw very little of it in my career playtrough and I'm pretty sure I finished all of them. In fact, you'll get more cool lostech stuff from the original campaign than these.

As for the 3 new mechs, while both the Hatcheman and Crab are visually distinct they are much like most other mediums vastly inferior to the 55tonners. The hatchetman in particular has a boosted melee attack but it doesn't hit hard enough to threaten heavies nor does it have close slots to back that melee attack up with. Doesn't even get close to what a 15ton heavier grasshopper can do in melee.

Meanwhile, the command Cyclops is absolutely overpowered, while being a mediocre assault on the baseline stats the command computer makes it indispensable. Just on its own that turns it into a 90ton heavy, initiative wise. This can snowball hard with the pilot ability and initiative skill, the ability to have your assault move in the light phase, possibly taking double turns is absurd given the very low opportunity cost.

tldr;
Patch 1.3 brought a lot of good things and if this new system allows them to write a lot more of these and they get better at them it might be good down the line. But for now of this expansion is not worth the asking price, maybe wait for a sale or see how Urban Warfare turns out before buying in.
