An absolutely fantastic experience, the kind of game I used to dream of… BUT… the bugs man

I only write serious reviews on games I care about, and this is one of those so I guess I could start off with the things I like

First of all, the concept is genius, I grew up on Pokémon games and I always felt that locking the player out of freely roaming around the game world was a huge letdown, specially on the gens prior to the jump to 3D, one of the first things I did in this game was powering through overleveled bosses and it was one of the most fun I've had on these kind of games, somehow managing to catch the Broncherry boss when I was barely level 10 iirc.
I also really like the base building aspect, I made my own little citadel with designed areas for productivity, places for storage and the hot tubs for the pals, some people keep on comparing this game to Ark, but I don't really see it, I feel like it depends on how you approach playing the game itself, to me, this is more like a Minecraftey/Stardew Valleish experience, where I can make my own cozy space to share with my absolutely adorable pals, which leads me to the next point.
When I first saw this game blowing up, I wasn't really interested, thinking it was just another TemTem or whatever "Pokémon alternative" came out yesterday, but I found myself oddly fond of some pals, my personal favorite being Quivern, at first I thought these designs were AI generated, which turned me off at first from trying the game, but this was before I learned this game was advertised way before AI generated images were of enough quality to design pals, although I must be honest on how the pals I like the least are the obvious Pokémon derivatives, such as Verdash and Anubis, aka Cinderacen't and Lucarion't… Which I guess we could use as a segway into the negatives.

Man this game has a crap ton of bugs… YEAH! It's on early access, I get it, I also understand that the dev team is fairly small, which is why I shrug off most bugs, I just hate how easy it is to clip through walls and stuff, specially while climbing around mountainous areas with or without flying pals.
Some mechanics also feel unbalanced and certain resources I usually find myself missing way too often such as ore, which is mined fairly slowly and has to be refined to be usable, which costs half of the raw ore you collect (Meaning 200 ore gets you 100 refined ore), making you have to grind a lot, to the point I found it fairly frustrating everytime I had to craft or repair something that used iron ore, luckily you can use mods to tweak this sort of stuff, which is what I did.
Speaking of, weapon and armor durability is laughable, I constantly have to repair very expensive equipment after a few bossfights.

I guess that's pretty much everything I have to say about the game right about now
TL;DR: It's pretty fun if you like exploring and monster collecting games, it has some bugs that come with the fact of being an Early Access game, and some mechanics are frustrating but you can rebalance them with mods.

I heavily recommend this game for anyone who might be doubting on what the purpose of life is, as this experience will show you that the clear purpose of life is to avoid ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games like these :3
