Overall, I found this game to only be enjoyable when playing co-op with friends. The campaign offers very little story making it boring and lack luster when playing solo; given that the only reason I would play a fps game alone is for the campaign's story. However, co-op campaigns are great and it's fun to screw your friend's over when they get pounced by a hunter. There's even a versus mode which allows you to face off your friends to see who can rack up the most points by the end of the campaign. I personally find versus to be enjoyable as catching someone off guard as a smoker can spook them. On the other hand, versus can be rage inducing when half of the team are just bots that take forever to get to the end, causing the rest of the team to lose points. In conclusion, Left 4 Dead 2 is great with its multiplayer co-op but not so much as with its single-player campaigns.
