Evoland is a 3 hour or so game that has a great concept but pretty much only lives by that concept. A game of evolving Adventure/RPG elements through the times would be a great idea if executed nicely, yet this one fails to deliver on a challenging game with actual evolving of mechanics, both in gameplay and actually evolving. It seems to only ever try to be Zelda or Final Fantasy, with only one instance of it being Diablo (which played exactly like the Zelda sections only with more enemies and money drops). It only switches between the first two, and the plot is pretty much an abridged Final Fantasy VII after the initial area. Even the second character you can play as is named Kaeris. You can guess what happens to her before the end of the game.

There is a fine difference between a homage and a game with references everywhere, and I'm afraid this is more of the latter. Kind of disappointed.

Pick it up on a sale if you want something to do for three hours, but it isn't something you need to get to remember the old days. You aren't missing anything by passing it up, and there is no replay value after you have completed it unless you want to go achievement hunting. It drives on your nostalgia and nothing more.

A lot of people tend to hate this version of RCT simply because RCT2 exists and the move to 3D maybe hurt the series a bit. However, most of the functionality of RCT1+2 still exist in this, but with some improvements to quite a few aspects (such as proper pathing for park guests and allowing construction while the rest of the park is paused).

The scenarios in 3 are pretty simple, with most second objectives being to pay off the loan. While the scenarios aren't really challenging most of the time, a lot of them are still fun. If you are the kind that just likes to build a theme park, Sandbox Mode exists for you to toy around with whatever designs you want.

The only thing that really suffers is terrain modifying, since modifying smooth hills can be a major pain to construct anything on top of. However, everything else is pretty solid, and Platinum adds in a ton of content.

Certainly worth picking up.

Buy this game. No, don't question it. Buy it. Wonderful arcade beat-em-up with very slick controls, wonderful and creative bosses, and full of replayability. I mean, it is just pure fun. Buy it.

There are a lot of music games that let you use your own music these days. If you love those kinds of games, steer clear of this one.

It makes no sense on why the notes are being placed and on Expert it just turns into double notes for the last 10% of the song, no matter the song. The algorithms don't work well at all.

It is score based but when activating multipliers it changes the notes to one color, which is random as to what it is and not very helpful. It also doesn't feel right, with hitting notes not having enough feedback to tell if you are hitting them or not unless you enable scratch SFX to know when you messed up, but those aren't good in this kind of game.

Don't buy it. It never goes on sale from what I've seen and the only DLC it has is pure cosmetics. Avoid like the plague, and go get Stepmania if you really want some score-based music games with your own music. At least there you know what you are hitting to.
