I think enough variants and copycats have come out where the content and replayability of the original have become a little bland over time. Still good. Just not the auto-shooter I'd recommend to newcomers anymore. Tried a few of the DLCs and kind of felt the same way. Let me know if there's one that makes it better.

6/10 - Art and attention to detail is amazing. Unfortunately long-term content is lacking.

God this game holds up so well. Hard to think about what we gave up for an 'esports ready sequel,' without revisiting this gem every once and a while. Custom maps still go super hard, the culture is still unfiltered and wild, and you never know what kind of experience you're going to get until you're deep in it. This is the 'them' in 'they just dont make them how they used to."

10/10 - For cultural impact, simplicity of design/balance, implementation of mods and a community that will go down in history. I feel like any criticism would be more directed at the design of the time of that era and less so against the actual design behind the game.

I've played this game enough times on mobile and steam to give a fair review. Good time waster, no matter your reaction time the game scales to give you a fair challenge. So replay-ability for a faster speed run is always on the table. Kills time well, makes your neurons fire off when you get a large combo, and you're always upgrading something or unlocking something. I'd recommend it on mobile more, but if you need a solitaire replacement to kill time this is a great option. 5/10.

On my goal to review every game in my 1000+ library. I'm going to make this one super simple. It's not an idle game, you actively have to play in order to get materials. You'll spend most of the beginning thinking "I wonder when the game starts," then realize two hours in that this is the game. No hate against the dev, happy you scored this awesome deal with Humble. But content with any cohesion to the whole is not value, it's a toy box. And I'm too old to be playing with toys. Love the art and assets, but the gameplay loop had me grinding my teeth. Fighting off thoughts of "Wow, this is how game addiction happens, I'm just playing until a level up screen flashes in front of my eyes." as apposed to "wow, this is so fun, I wonder what happens next." Looking forward to your next project, this just aint it. 4/10

Didn't age well; screen-shake is nauseating, no FOV slider, map colliders will yeet you around and just block you, bullets will show hit-reg icon but won't register. You have to have some pretty serious nostalgia to push past the discomfort this game gives.

1. You can go into this game if it's your first Metal Gear game.
2. It won't make a ton of sense, but it's because the story is incomplete and super spotty due to Konami pulling the plug early. The actual ending is missing sadly.
3. (IMHO) Spoil the ending, the main character becomes a lot more interesting when the ending gives some actual context to a pretty empty story.
4. Have fun, don't go 100% stealth. Embrace the chaos.
5. Save the base multiplayer for the ending. There's still people playing and they will steal everything you have if you keep poking hornets nests.

You're buying a rough, early access, only online, large, multiplayer game. The devs are doing great work updating the game and fixing issues, but there is still a general jankiness and server issues. If you're cool with occasional bugs/rubber banding then this game is awesome. It learns from Tarkov's mistakes and creates something new and streamlined. You start at a base one your teams respective side of the map and the further out you go, the more likely it is that you'll run into another team doing the same. While it's mill-sim in nature, it's definitely lighter and easier than tarkov. It feels more inspired by BSG than it feels like a direct descendant or a replacement. Which is good, because imho Tarkov kind of walked itself into a corner. This might not be in the direction you want, but it's in A direction and that's worth keeping on the market for healthy competition even if it's not the kind of game for you. Because I mean like.... who's going to compare Tarkov to CoD DMZ or whatever mobile rip off games that are out there?

It took three or four tries to get into this game, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ once it clicks it clicks HARD.

It might need more content down the road, but so far very good! Each class is tweaked enough where they feel unique and powerful without having to relearn a whole bunch of new mechanics. Voice lines are great, level design is great, not much to complain about. Solid thumbs up from me.
