This game is excellent at what it does, but it doesn't do all that much. Unless you're making an effort to play with or against other players, it's fairly shallow for anything but pure exploration. The galaxy runs a little too smoothly without input from the players, and there's no real way to impact the economy other than making trade runs temporarily unprofitable between specific stations.

If you're a hardcore explorer, jump in. If you're looking for anything else from a space sim, definitely find players shortly after finishing the tutorial.
