Early Access Review
It's like Path of Exile, very similar game concept and mechanics, there is now a dodge roll button (space bar) which the bosses are essentially designed around as you're forced to dodge attacks which will otherwise one shot you.

The game in its early access state right now is very punishing but fun, GGG will balance things out and nerf/buff things to make it all balanced.

Consider it in a way like playing dark souls for the first time, you go up against a boss who does a 3 hit wombo combo, if you just spam your roll button you're going to be caught out by the tracking of the 3 hit combo, you'll dodge the first, the second will clip you, and the third will kill you. So if you have a brain you can learn the boss mechanics from your deaths and beat them.

The basic mobs however are much more punishing, you can get surrounded and be trapped, at higher levels the mobs will melt your face, if they have on death corpse explosions you'll not be able to see which corpses are going to nuke you as you're standing in a sea of corpses you just created, only builds that utilise corpses like necromancers will be able to deal with this current existential threat to higher level players.

Crafting is essentially the same, you're gambling for rolls you need or what are valuable and currency items are rarer than in the first game (the upcoming patch has addressed some of the currency imbalance) yet im hearing about a lot of players successes making very nice rares with near perfect rolls, they may just be rich with 200 exalted orbs to slam items with, but for myself a inexperienced crafter im saving my exalteds to trade with for usable item upgrades on the trade site.

The base game is fun, its like diablo 2, act 1 is nice and short and sweet, act 2 lengthens out with bigger maps, and act 3 is a miserable slog, going through the vaal temple and other zones is taking 20-40 minutes just because it's that big, mob pack density is lacking and there are rarely any rare mobs who actually drop loot worth a damn.

With that being said though im running a level 41 infernalist (wtich) minion summoning build that utilises contagion and essence drain combined with fire wall and summon raging spirits, i have utility, support from minions which i can change to suit my needs ie skeletal warriors for sheer numbers, or frost mages for cold damage and their frost bomb support so i lack the pure clear speed of say a deadeye ranger or a stormweaving sorceress.

You can reroll passive perks for a gold cost, that cost increases as you level up so you can't exactly brick a character.

The game is fun and balance patches will come, buying the early access support pack gives you 200 points to use on microtransactions like the premium stash tabs to organise the plethora of loot much quicker, and all the early access characters will be stored on their own seperate league compared to the standard league you know and love from path of exile 1.
