Dropsy
If you’re looking to break the cycle of playing the popular FPS games of the week then I have something different I highly suggest, Dropsy. The game is most certainly different, it goes against the mechanical and formulaic staples that most games go for now and days. The creators weren’t afraid to go against the grain or to make something unique. They did what they felt like doing and I must say it turned out wonderful.

In the game you play as a peculiar looking clown named Dropsy, he is always happy no matter what, walking around with his huge carefree grin. You also can control several companions you will find along his adventure that serve not only as friends but tools in solving puzzles or to retrieve certain items from locations which are impossible for Dropsy to reach himself.

Dropsy the game conveys it story without using dialogue of any kind, rather it utilize an imagery system over every character’s speech bubble. By doing this you can immerse yourself into the game no matter what language you speak. It sounds strange but trust me once you get into the game it will feel natural. The world seems to not be Earth or at least set in an alternate universe seeing how the natives use an unknown alphabet.

The goal in Dropsy is to save your ill father, while on the journey you spread joy and happiness to everyone you meet with many sidequest you come across. There is even a mechanic of hugging people which actually feels satisfying. It put a smile on my face every time I used it. There are some parts of the game that nearly made me tear up. Who knew a game without words would do that to a person, well Dropsy sure did. Several heart tugging scenes throughout. On the other hand, there are some parts of the game that can turn a bit dark and nightmarish, keep in mind before picking it up for young ones.

Gameplay is in the style of a point and click adventure game, you click the location to where you want to walk and then interact with the world around you. Was pretty nostalgic for me. You will also collect many items throughout.

Pros
- Great Story
- Unique Gameplay
- Dropsy Himself
- Art Style/Visuals
- No Language Required

Cons
- Bit of a plot dump near end
- Point of no return for collecting certain items so be sure to create a new save slot before the third act

Conclusion

It’s a fun game if you’d like to play something different than what everyone else is playing, kick your shoes off and dip your feet into the world of Dropsy.
