Early Access Review
Picked this up on launch on Epic years ago and had a decent time, but was waiting for more content. Saw it go on a big sale on Steam so figured why not... so far its the same game I remember but with some pretty meaningful upgrades and changes. Overall I'm very much enjoying myself, and it still has the novelty of being pretty unique in this genre. Its going to be grindy if you are soloing it like I am, but that's par for the course with survival games.

Give the demo a try if you're on the fence, but overall its a good take on survival that has enough novelty to keep you intrigued through its grindy phase, with a pretty solid experience overall to be had otherwise.

I like all the Borderlands games... yes even 3. And I loved Assault on Dragon Keep... but I just can't get into Wonderlands. I've tried playing it coop, as well as solo, and given it multiple tries... but it just feels so forgettable and bland. The way the game is structured means you rarely get a nice long stretch of actual gameplay, and while the overworld is a cool concept, it just doesn't really land in my opinion. If you're interested in this, wait for a heavy discount just in case you end up disappointed.

I adored both DL1 and 2, but DL:TB just isn't clicking for me. The loop of go find a chimera, kill it, rinse repeat is just kinda boring. Outside of that the world is fine, but the zombies really get in the way of the ability to get any sort of flow state going like you could in the two mainline entries. You'll be stopping to deal with zombies way more often than in those games. And that's fine, but it gets pretty tiresome pretty quickly. Obviously the reviews say I'm in the minority here - which is fine. I'm glad most are enjoying it, but I'd rather just go back and replay one of the mainline games than keep playing this sadly.

Really cool mission-based shooter that feels like a bit of a throwback to games from the early 2000s (I mean that in a very good way). Really fun and looking forward to seeing it grow throughout early access!

Had basically no idea what to expect when jumping into this game, just picked it up on a bit of a whim and so far I'm enjoying what I've played! The artwork, sound design and overall presentation of the game is phenomenal, and you can really tell the developer had a vision that they seem to have executed on quite well. There's a bit of a learning curve, and the game is, so far, quite challenging - but I think that's exactly what you want for this sort of experience. I've beaten my first titan and I'm looking forward to getting my ass whooped by the others!

If you are a patient gamer who is able to take the time to experiment a bit and like a rewarding challenge, this is definitely going to be right up your alley.

Also want to make a special note that the sound design is amazing here!

Really fun game that is unlike anything else out there. There are games that kinda do something similar, but none have the depth and detail that this one does. Its incredibly fun and while development has been quite slow, its well worth the price in its current state IMO.

Picked this up because its so cheap, expecting a fun little throwaway gaming session with my wife... then we played for 9 hours straight XD One of those games that executes on a few simple mechanics so well that it becomes incredibly engaging and immersive. Looking forward to seeing what they add, but its already been a blast! I can imagine this gets chaotic, in all the right ways, in larger groups!

Grounded 2's early access release is a great starting point, but it does feel like a few step back when compared to Grounded 1. The visual upgrade is nice in some ways, less good in others, and comes with a big performance cost in comparison. A lot of the changes made to how systems work are fine, but some of them are bad changes IMO. I'm still having a really good time playing this, and I am very hopeful that the early access development period will see this game grow into a contender for best survival game to date, which is where I currently place the first game, but if you are coming from playing Grounded 1, especially recently, expect this to be quite a bit rougher than that. Its great, and I expect it will get a lot better, but it is a little hard after playing Grounded 1 to appreciate that!

Played the game for a couple of hours when it first hit Early Access and had a nice time, but bounced off as I often do with early access titles. Decided to wait til 1.0 and I'm very glad I did! This is what you get if you mix the well designed story-driven survival gameplay of something like Subnautica with the world of Half-Life with a healthy dash of SCP... and I'm here for it!

Been soloing the game and while there's times where you can tell its balanced around coop, the game has a huge set of sandbox settings that don't disable achievements, meaning you can really cater the game to your playstyle and desired experience. I ended up restarting with everything on default, but with stack sizes set to 2x and one or two other minor tweaks, and I'm having a great time.

For anyone interested - the game works incredibly well on Linux too.

I'm looking forward to continuing my journey in the GATE facilities and finding the many secrets there are to discover. Really cool game that I can easily recommend to anyone interested!
