The first one was a masterpiece. I don't know how Larian did, but they still managed to top it in every aspect with this second one. Combat is vastly improved, graphics are cleaner, music feels more varied. Even the story feels richer because of all the different premade characters. Truly worth its price.

>Created a lobby so I could play with my friends.
>Ranger level 785 joins.
>Proceeds to carry us through NG+25 over and over.
>We make a ♥♥♥♥ ton of XP and gold, get to max out our characters basically for free.
>Bob is a benevolent god.

10/10 would get carried again

All jokes aside, the game is good, though. Very fun with friends.

It's fun! Half strategy, half RNG, it's very rewarding once you get to know it well.

Dead Cells is an awesome game in every aspect. Fun, challenging, visually stunning and fluid, it is also constantly evolving. The developers take their fans' opinions really seriously and put real care and energy into the game. It shows in the gameplay and the atmosphere.

Dead Cells has an incredible replay value, especially right now, as new features are constantly being added due to its early access state. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who likes good, fast-paced action games and platformers. Whether you love exploration, speedrunning or a tough challenge, you'll find what you're looking for here.

A solid 9/10. Why did you change the UI guys? WHY???

As a die hard Souls fan, I had high expectations for this game. I have to say, From Software met them all.

GAMEPLAY

Mechanically speaking, the game is on point. Combat is fluid, the AI is really good (I was impressed by the quality of its pathfinding), PvE is really well balanced and fun. The clunkiness from Dark Souls I & II is gone, replaced by a seamless experience where you get rewarded for good reactions and patient grinding, and punished hard for greediness and unsafe actions. I feel like I deserved every death and earned every victory.

It is way easier than in previous games to understand the NPCs' questlines, which in turn makes it easier to get miracles, sorceries and so on. The weapon reinforcement system is clear and easily understood, and the fact that you can allot Estus between life and mana as you see fit is a really nice touch. Firelink Shrine acts as a central hub where all your NPCs come, just like in Demon's Souls, which prevents you from having to travel everywhere all the time to talk to people.

As for PvP, I've had a seamless experience so far as well. Connection is stable most of the time, combats are often fierce and tiring, with both players getting a couple hits in and then retreating to heal, before coming back at each other again. The addition of a password matchmaking system makes it easy to connect with a friend, which is, simply put, awesome. The joy of questing with your buddy and fighting invaders together very much surpasses that of simply summoning a random player. The invasion system is also pretty interesting. Instead of invading people only of your soul level, you'll be matched with people who have weapons of the same upgrade level. Finally past is the time when you would get invaded by a level one deprived with a +10 lightning sword right at the beginning of the game. Multiplayer in general is a lot of fun, especially when you get to play with trollish people who'll join you in your shenanigans :P

SOUND

As always in Souls games, the soundtrack is simply amazing. Boss songs really carry an atmosphere of grandeur past and overwhelming power and each theme is uniquely tailored to match the enemy it is accompanying. The main menu theme is also really good, giving you a good feeling of what to expect from Dark Souls III.

Voice acting is interesting as well. Souls games' characters have always somewhat of a shroud of mystery around them, which dialogues and voice acting support really well. This feeling is nicely brought up in this one, with most of the characters seeming almost insane and frequent (at least for Dark Souls) dialogue choices making you think about your decisions in the game.

Sound design in general is really good. Each area has its own feel to it, sound effects are on point and enemies are rendered credible. The surround is also of good quality.

GRAPHICS

Dark Souls III is insanely beautiful. It is a work of art. The textures may not be the most detailed out there, but the environments are so rich, so well designed and the atmosphere of the game is conveyed with such intensity that I can't help but stop sometimes, simply to take in the scenery or admire the beauty of a building's architecture. This game's beauty lies not in the defnition of its textures, but in its ingenuous use of ligthings and unique atmosphere. Every armor set is awesomely designed, enemies are all cooler than the next, and I won't even talk about bosses, because I won't stop if I go down that road.

LEVEL DESIGN

The level design in this game is a mix between Dark Souls and Demon's Souls. There are the central hub and the somewhat linear path the player has to follow from one area to the next of Demon's Souls, but every area is jam packed with crossroads, small hidden paths and items everywhere, just like in Dark Souls. Enemy placement is often brilliant, surprising you at times, but never without giving you a hint before. If you advance carefully and have good observation, you will see traps before falling in them, you will spot enemies hanging from the ceiling before they get the drop on you, etc. Every time I get cheesed by an area's level design, I get the feeling that it was actually my own fault and not because the developers made this particular bit artificially hard by placing a lot of enemies or a trap I had to fall into once in order to know it was there (cue Dark Souls II).

CONCLUSION

Dark Souls III is an amazing game with an insane amount of content, depth that will keep you playing for hundreds of hours and a truly satisfying way of rewarding the player for good actions. The multiplayer component is seamlessly integrated into the whole experience, which makes it that much better, and the lore is everywhere (fans of Dark Souls will feel like they're playing it for the first time again... let the nostalgia kick in!). I recommend this game with all my heart to every RPG fan, anyone who seeks a good challenge and anyone who likes exploring beautifully crafted environments and discovering the hidden lore behind every little secret.

10/10

TL;DR: Buy the ****ing game! It's amazing, it's gorgeous and it's rewardingly challenging! Don't forget to praise the sun!
