If you liked Monster Train 1 this is that but better. My biggest complaint is that I don't own a steam deck so I can't playing when I'm laying down in bed, lol.

Very cool, also pretty dark. I mean, it is a horror game. Anyway I love the PS1 inspired graphics, and the way the story is told non-linearly is awesome. Would recommend!

I now have two real physical placid plastic ducks sitting on my monitor because of this game.

The Core game is a very fun auto-battler that I would recommend.

However with the servers the way they are I cannot recommend this game. Every action I do I get a "Something went wrong" error and have to either repeat the action several times or restart the game. Once these issues are fixed I think this absolutely deserves a look but right now skip it.

It seems that the server issues are resolved, or at least are much better than when I initially reviewed the game. I would say give this one a look,

One of the riddles is a piece of Monty Python and the Holy Grail trivia. The question is "What is your favorite color" and the answer is Yellow (referencing the old man on the bridge scene). So basically if you had not watched that movie you would have had a 1 in 3 chance to get that riddle wrong, unless you looked up the answer online. Is this unfair? Yes. But your reaction to knowing that should tell you if you're okay with playing this game or not, if that sounds like something that would annoy you because it's unfair you should not get this game.

Other than that, this is a recreation of a choose your own adventure/solo tabletop RPG thing from the early 80s. Game design has moved on in the past 35 years. Combat is sitting there rolling D6's at one another until one of you dies. You do have some opportunities to influence your luck - when you level up you can add another 'hit' to the side of a die, and when you start the game you get to pick how many Skill dice, luck dice, and HP you have, so it's not ENTIRELY randomness. However, if this game was made today I would be willing to bet that there would be a lot more you can do to influence the luck.

So, is this game for everyone? No, certainly not. It's probably not even for most people. But if you're an old school tabletop gaming nerd, or even just someone who is okay dying because of a single dice roll, it may be worth a look.

This is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. The combat just feels so satisfying, the world is so fun to explore. I really hate the 'git gud' culture that arose because of this series, this isn't a game about punishing you for failure it's a game about perseverance and getting back up again every time you fall.

Alright, so for starters this game is very short. I beat it in under 40 mins. Additionally it could use a bit of polish in the controls and animations department.

That said, I greatly enjoyed my 40 minutes. This game has a sense of humor and got me to laugh out loud a couple of times, and the game itself is basically a collection of mini-games, so that keeps things varied and interesting. I believe this game is technically in early access and the developer plans to release more episodes increasing the length, which will be welcome. It's also worth note that this game was made by one person, so that bit of polish that's missing from it is quite easily forgiven.

Early Access Review
As a new player to fighting games I greatly appreciate this game. In Street Fighter 5 I would hop online and get destroyed and just get frustrated because I had no idea why I was losing or what I was doing wrong. I spent a long time in practice mode trying to learn combos and stuff but when it came time to have actual matches I just lost and had no idea why.

Enter this game. I hop online here and even though I am still losing I can feel myself improving with every match. As I have very few moves and no need to worry about executing moves perfectly it has lead to me being able to stop and consider my options when I'm losing. Oh, do I keep getting hit when I try to jump in > phase out > drop gear? Mix up with jump in > forward normal or jump in > throw. I still lose a lot but when I can take just one round off of someone who was getting perfects on me it feels so satisfying. Being able to recognize what my flaws are and improve them feels attainable here, where in SFV I just feel like I'm flailing around aimlessly. (I do plan to go back to SFV after I put a decent amount of time into this game)

And, as others have said, just because this game is simplified for newer players that doesn't make it 'easy' or mean that it lacks depth. It's just that that depth feels accessible now instead of 'you need to spend 50 more hours in training mode until you can do all your combos without thinking'. If/when this game comes to PS4 I plan to buy it again, even if I've moved on to other games by then just because I feel like this is such a fantastic learning tool for new players.

Adorable, funny, solid 3D platformer. If you miss the 'collect-a-thon' games from the N64 era, here's your return to the genre.
