Incredible game. The story and characters are really well written. Both comedic and dramatic moments hit perfectly for me, elevated by great dialogue and voice acting, as well as amazing music. Combat is turn-based with action elements, similar to a Mario RPG. I found the build crafting with the weapons, skills, Pictos (equipment), and Luminas (perks learned from Pictos, like Final Fantasy IX) to be really fun, and enjoyed experimenting when fighting endgame bosses. Main story is ~30 hours, with ~15 more hours of side content, so it's not a game that overstays its welcome. Definitely my GOTY for 2025, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Anvil Hammer go bonk.

Enjoyable DLC, with amazing level design and challenging boss fights, in which learning their patterns feels really rewarding. There's only really one boss that I did not enjoy fighting (non-story boss spoilers: Ancient Dragon Senessax ).

A short, but powerful story that gives more closure to Kiryu after the events of Yakuza 6 and ties in nicely with the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. All of the supporting characters introduced are excellent. For completionists, this is the easiest game in the series to complete, even more so than Yakuza 6.

The most stylish JRPG in existence. Great jazzy soundtrack and fun story. A must play for any JRPG fan, but be ready for 100+ hours to finish it.

Basically more Dark Souls, but open world. A must for people who are already Souls fans. Even for those who are put off by the difficulty of Souls games, the ability to explore other areas and get stronger before fighting a difficult boss may make this game worth a try. In other Souls games, you would either have to keep attempting a difficult boss or grind levels in the same areas over and over, so Elden Ring's freedom of choice makes it less monotonous. This also allows players to have some control over how difficult they want their experience to be, in a more natural way than a simple difficulty option.

There is a reason this is the top reviewed game on Steam. It is the best 2D sandbox game out there, with extremely fun gameplay and progression in exploration, building, and combat. I've played this game since launch; it was great then, and each update since has made it even better with tons of content. One recommendation I have for new players, though: keep the wiki open for reference, as the Guide NPC isn't the most useful, and there are a lot of items to craft and equipment setups to explore.

One of the stronger entries in the series, and for completionists, one of the easiest to complete. Uses the Dragon Engine, like Kiwami 2. I experienced fewer graphical glitches in this game than Kiwami 2 (on an i5-6600K, GTX 1070). The story is long, but enjoyable, with antagonists that were handled better than those in Yakuza 5, and a good supporting cast that makes up for having only one protagonist. On my second playthrough on Legend difficulty, I was really grateful for the ability to skip practically every cutscene in the game.

One of the best JRPGs of all time. Great characters and a great OST. Looking forward to more of the series being ported to PC.
