I'm Cyan Sky Knight, or Skyligh in some places. :ftlmantis:
I used to make character mods for Crypt of the Necrodancer, but most of my focus has been on Starbound now. :necropotion:

Hi there, would it be ok with you if I made a BYOS compatability mod for your Kyterran mod?

Labeling your species colors helps a lot so you aren't just looking at a wall of hex. Make sure you are using something like Notepad++ or Atom for text editing.
I usually have an image of the species and their palettes, and duplicate the layers to test out more color palettes.
I don't know of a better method of making them, unfortunately.

One last question, how did you create and organize all your body color palettes? There are quite a lot of them so is there a program that helped you see which ones you liked? Right now I'm just copying hex numbers into paint.net and making swatches and it is taking forever.

Oh awesome! I had no idea that the "thau" was for "thaumaturge". Ophidian just means "Of, relating to, or resembling a snake or the snakes." and Ophiuchus is the unofficial 13th sign of the zodiac and a bunch of other things. I'll see if I can think of any other words to smoosh together. Thank you for your help :)

Yeah, using scientific names is one of the ways I approach species names. Saturnian comes from the scientific name of the moth family they are based on, Saturniidae
Another way I name things is to take a sort of Pokemon approach and combine words. Kyterran comes from Chitin + terra, Thaumoth is Thaumaturge + moth, Scyphojel is Scyphozoa + Jellyfish

I Googled "Ophidian" and apparently there's an obscure D&D species with the same name. I don't think that would be an issue though since "ophidian" is a word. I think it would be fine as a name!

I'm trying to come up with a decent sounding name for a version of the Lamia that I'm working on. I was thinking about Ophidian but I don't know if that sounds good. I don't know how far I'll get but I have fine tuned the body sprites so much I want to go farther and make it unique.
You have great designs, names, and lore so do you have any methods for inventing this stuff?
