Literally the only negative review I've given to date.

The only thing that could make a free software unworthy of even a simple download is if any of the following is true:
  • The bar to entry is really high.
  • Doesn't work on all systems.
  • Updates to it basically slowly cull the player base.
  • It effectively acts as a spyware, pup, or malware.
  • Offers little to no vanilla content itself - it's 90% player made.
  • Installs third party content that isn't uninstalled with the rest of the game.
  • Microtransactions.

Unfortunate that this game meets all these criteria. Maybe not the last one - but we'll see how long that lasts.

Imagine making a sandbox-style game and removing modding support under the guise of "protecting players" when any real exploits affecting players are unhindered by your changes. A lazy copout dev team that clearly doesn't deserve the space on your PC, much less a positive review. Cringe Devs.

Use Rec Room instead. Based Devs.

Simply yes.

Play it solo, or play it with friends, either way you'll die.
And you won't regret a moment of it.

Until your friend slams a door closed in your face.
Then you'll regret everything.

So just make sure you slam it in their face first :)

Hands down, my number one game of all time. Nothing comes even close to this landslide win of a game.
Stunning views, limitless gameplay, and an awesome community with a fully committed development team to take it the extra mile. Worth every cent. One of the few games I'd buy twice just the show my support - and I have.

As with all my games, I judge a game by it's basic core ability to entertain. If a game can satisfy me for the number of hours equivalent to the dollar value of said game's price, I consider it worth it. This game, while lacking sorely in content, brings everything it offered on the store page, and is a really fun time killer. So without further ado~

Pros:
- Almost any computer can run it without issue.
- Relatively cheap for expected playtime.
- Good replayability.
- Honestly, not even a bad game concept, it's pulled off well if a bit simplistic.
- Stable, no crashes and no outstanding bugs.
- Extremely difficult on harder settings.

Cons:
- No good if you're looking for something other than just a pure time waster.
- Not very pretty or packed with juicy audio.
- Tutorial a basically just a bunch of descriptions.
- Extremely difficult on harder settings.

All in all, not a game I'd recommend sinking your savings into, but if you have some money and time to throw around, I could definitely list many worse choices than this.

I received this game as part of the Humble Bundle a bit ago, but it should be noted that prior to this I was still considering buying the game. Even though everything about the game screamed to me that I would hate it, the platforming, the high-stakes combat, and overall apparent skill and patience seemingly needed to play, I never regretted a moment of playing it. From the first second it loaded, to just a week later I had already mustered 40 hours of playtime. Hollow Knight provides players a surprising challenge of something outside their normal comfort zone. Unique gameplay and mechanics that make you think outside the box and beautiful artwork make you want to explore the work that Team Cherry has so expertly crafted. The best experience I can relate this to is the Portal series, where it's truly a experience best served blind. It will be frustrating at times, infuriating... but when you beat that one boss that's been wreaking you... it's nothing short of inspiring, and you're filled with the feeling of completing a seemingly impossible puzzle.

  • Controls are great, not floaty, and movement is precise. Controller support is always a plus, but never detrimental to gameplay if unavailable.
  • Death is punishing, but never permanently detrimental to gameplay.
  • Art... how can I even express how pretty this game is? I'd pay for it just to have the artwork.
  • The story is a perfect mix of brooding fantasy and theory-crafting that puts the likes of FNAF to shame.
  • Awesome developers. 'Nuff said.
  • Takes practically nothing to run on any system.
  • Easily worth twice the price in both content and expected playtime.
  • 10/10 Game of the year.

In short, I judge a game's value by it's effect of achieving what it was designed for: Entertainment. I use a baseline of if I get an hour of enjoyable playtime equal to each dollar amount for the price I paid, it's a 100% worth game because I got my complete money's worth. Since I got this for free, and I have fifty hours from it... I enjoyed it so much I bought it for two of my friends.

All in all. Get it. Truly the best game I've ever played hands down.

ASTRONEER is a unique take on a stranded survival. The content is always being expanded and tweaked by the devs, and it's a fun little game to throw a bit of extra money at when you can. The multiplayer, while buggy, is still endlessly fun like the rest of the game. The simplistic base building and crafting, combined with the epic exploration and discovery, makes for a great title. Whenever I play this game, I always discover something new about it, and to me, that's worth the buy alone.

Subnautica, for lack of any ability to properly explain what it is. It's an experience. For those of you who haven't seen it, get it and play through an epic at-your-own-pace story that never fails to impress. For those who have been with the game since early development, you probably already own the game and I don't need to tell you how great the replay-ability of this title is. Constantly being tweaked, expanded, and endorsed by both the loving devs and loving community; Subnautica is a good game to pick up no matter the price. It's an experience to play, and I'm proud to own and support it.

Block N' Load was an amazing Beta when I played it. The only problems I had with the game, wasn't really the game itself:
Graphics are good, game-play is one-of-a-kind, and it is truly fun to play.

My issues lied within the community; I adore a good game, but if it's going to be centered around multiplayer, community is important. The Beta had only a few players who were willing to buy it, and the ones who probably got a code generator were hackers, and without any V.A.C. system or report features, this game was horrible to play and have a good time.

Now, fully fledged with constantly updated and bursting new content all the time, the community is much better. I know a lot of people may think that Free-to-Play means lots of noob-ish players, but at least their better than too few players at all, or hackers! And on top of that, anyone who DID buy the Beta, retains some of the previously available (but now unlockables) from the getgo.

As far as game-play goes, everything is pretty balanced an fair to play, it runs smooth, looks nice, controls are a bit clunky (who cares, you can reconfigure them!), but best of all: IT'S A GAME THAT IS A FREE TO PLAY AND DOESN'T FOCUS ON MICRO-TRANSACTIONS! Yeah, they have them, but they really won't get you anything that gives any sort of advantage over another player. Their also not so in-your-face about them either, almost like a thing you can do but you have no reason to do it.

All in all,
8.6/10

Robocraft is a fairly original concept put into a multiplayer experience. It provides almost limitless amounts of entertainment and satisfaction with numerous updates adding more content than you can keep up with. The community is truly something to behold, everyone is helpful and nice, and the devs make any setbacks such a unexpected server crash worth your while with free gifts or "freemium" (get it? Free premium?)! The intensity of the game on a computer is also VERY low, to the point where almost any PC could run it at bear minimum while still being playable. As for the difficulty? Well, I can't tell you how to build and operate your machines, that's the fun part!

Don't Starve is an original 2.5D game that features all the the survival aspects of a good open-world game including an adventure mode, and soon-to be mutiplayer "Don't Starve Together". Be warned however: This is a rouge-type game... if you die, it is likely you will suffer the consequences! This game also features a completely optional and great DLC called Rein of Giants, and I also reccomend getting this if given the chance.
