At first, I legit was not sure about this game considering EA, and how Callisto Protocol flopped to hell...

...I forgot what I needed to say. Anyways, what is The Marker?
For the blind, it is their vision. For the deaf, it is their music. For the mute, it is their voice. For the anosmiac, it is their aroma. For the numb, it is their feeling. For the atrophied, it is their muscle.
For the starved, it is their sustenance. For the thirsty, it is their water. For the exhausted, it is their energy.
For the depressed, it is their happiness. For the disillusioned, it is their hope. For the pessimistic, it is their optimism.
For the disadvantaged, it is their champion. For the marginalised, it is their justice. For the oppressed, it is their salvation.
For the righteous, it is their symbol. For the enlightened, it is their muse. For the erudite, it is their education.

Come.

Let us become whole once more.

I am conflicted whether to put this game on positive or negative state right now, because I agree with everyone here about it's launch state. However, I still trust Glen Schofield and his team to resolve these in due time.

Story and Combat are good so far, but as what everyone says here, you are BETTER OFF waiting for the rest of the optimization patches to improve on the game's experience, I bought an RTX 2060 exactly for horror games and there are still horrible amounts of stutter present in this game.

If you are very, VERY critical about the optimization, please follow your own gut and wait this thing out before you can finally sink your teeth on it, clear the backlogs while everything in this game is being fixed up.

EDIT: They added in another patch for this game during Dec 3, 2022, and it runs alot better this time. Some places still do have bad frame drops but it's a little more playable now. Otherwise it's still best to wait it out if you can.

Anyways, I started playing this game alot more and all I can say is that it genuinely shines as its own thing. This game CANNOT recapture the same magic you had playing the original Dead Space, but there's huge merit to the atmosphere, production value, and sound design. The combat can be seen as the odd one out, but when you start getting into its mindset, you'll start thoroughly re-enacting late 1800s Britain constantly whacking every monster you encounter. There are jumpscares that really don't earn their scares honestly, which kind of worry me on how they approach some of them.

You know what sucks right now?

Not alot of people in my friends list have experienced this masterpiece yet.

Actually kinda feels horrifying that my thoughts in this game are just to my own right now.

Anyways, game is amazing, if you love Silent Hill and Resident Evil, buy this at full price. Please.

EDIT: I beat this game once, PLEASE buy this game. You will thank yourself later.

I actually heavily recommend this game, HOWEVER. The PC port itself is actually bad. If you have a PS3 and the original copy of this game, play that instead to ensure no jank will come. Though if you don't have a PS3 nor the OG copy of this game, You have to take notes before you play this game:

1. Set the game's Maximum FPS to 60 only through your GPU's configuration panel for this game. The game calculates physics and events through FPS, and it will softlock you at the literal start if you play this game past 60 FPS.
2. If you have a gamepad, either from XBOX or Playstation, PLEASE use it. It will save you so much trouble from Mouse and Keyboard jank.
3. Use the free or paid Borderless Gaming app to force this game into borderless mode, just make Dead Space on 1080p windowed mode, then use the app to make it Borderless, it should make things smoother from that point.

Anyways, when this and Dead Space 2 go on discount, it's a VERY HIGH recommendation from me, especially if you love Horror games! I know that the remake is coming next year, so as Callisto Protocol coming this December, but it's best to see where the OG Dead Space team truly built their legacy, starting with this game.

This game is very brutal, but damn it still gives you so much control over combat. If you like Dark Souls, you will like the elements that they took from the games, they gave it their own twists. Rolling, parrying, health potions, and even Bloodborne's rally point system. The game takes those elements from that game and goes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane in its pace and in combat.

Make sure that if you really want to play this game, you better spare 3 hours a day. You will keep forgetting you speedrun through an entire day with this one.

Ever missed those good old days of playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory where you hide in the shadows for stealth, and make your enemies scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the more they take in clues about what you're doing?

Now play this, except you can straight up TERRORIZE your enemies.
It's a genuine banger, just get it.

I love DooM Eternal, and even TAG1, both games on your usual nightmare mode.
I had alot of fun with TAG2 as well, but there were some rooms that felt a little gimmicky instead of being actual arenas to fight on. But the cool thing added in this DLC are escalation gore nests, which let you do another difficult run of the same arena if you like (different demon placements btw). However though I still enjoyed the DLC, even if the final boss and ending was a little jarring/lackluster.

Before we go into this review, you must think of these following things:
1. DLCs are not Master Levels, as stated by Hugo Martin itself. They're to be treated as levels AFTER finishing the base game. He and id Software are planning more Master Levels later down the road, so be patient with that.
2. The "nerf" complaints you heard about TAG1 are more of actual pacing issues for the DLC, especially if you think with the base game player in mind (not the completely new player).

Anyways, about TAG2.

One cool thing that TAG2 brought into the game was the Hammer, replacing the Crucible. It essentially acts as a chainsaw+freeze bomb combo by slamming it into the ground and killing fodder enemies, and stunning heavier demons as well. This will provide you a plentiful amount of ammo, and even health or armor if you desire. I'd say right now that it's actually pretty busted, making some fights trivial with a press of a button. However I can see this being utilized to the fullest if id Software plans to make more master levels with this in mind.

Honestly though? My favourite part about the DLC is the environment art, it's pretty damn amazing, even Immora and Reclaimed Earth! It just makes me want to see Hugo Martin tackle Quake 1 as a remake someday.

The other best thing about TAG2 is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ music. Andrew and David had their first run with DooM Eternal on TAG1, so of course they won't be used to it at first. However they fully understood DooM Eternal's music style and blew it out of the park. I wish them the absolute best if id Software wants to look at Quake 1 someday. (absolute kings)

But honestly though, my verdict is that this DLC's best bought under a HEAVY sale, and if you truly want more DooM Eternal action. It's still a fun DLC after all.
