I loved dark souls 2 scholar of the first sin and i heard from some people that the original was supposedly better, They were so so wrong

Maybe I'm a little biased since i played the remake first but this version of the game feels very weird by comparison, items are in harder spots, some of the shortcuts are removed and it just generally feels harder.
honestly, if you're planning on playing dark souls 2 for the first time please play scholar of the first sin instead!

First i want to say something
no this game is not flawless, nothing is.
it has jank, broken hitboxes and some of the worst boss runbacks

...but this game is so dear to me
despite its flaws, i found myself enjoying this game more than ds1 and 3! It got me through some hard times.
the NG+ additions made me want to play the game more, not just because of rings (like ds3) but because of all the enemy changes and additions, i often found myself going "oh you're new!"

The music is beautiful and i want to put some of the dialogue lines on my wall,
mostly just Aldias lines, he has some of the best lines in the game, cant express how much i love that giant tree mass!

Anyway, best dark souls fight me

Its insane to me that it took me this long to write a review for this banger of a game
The disturbing art style and atmosphere is the ♥♥♥♥ but don't expect a long game (the next game is longer dw)

The controls are admittedly janky at times (the kitchen hand achievement is the bane of my existence.) but its an enjoyable experience nonetheless!

10/10 highly recommend going into this game blind!

I never usually write serious reviews but i thought i'd do it for once!

This is my first souls game, i tried playing ds1 on my switch a long while ago but i never really "got" it (tbh i was in a bad place mentally so that didn't help)
I only bought this game first because i saw the dancer and though they looked cool.

I've always been the type to give up quickly, in both life and video games and i almost gave up quite a few times during my playthrough but eventually I began to experiment with weapons, be more observant to boss patterns (I have nameless king to thank for that) and genuinely enjoying the game, which, ngl, i thought would never happen.

I cant really compare this game to other souls games but I can say how good this game is for people who have never played a souls game before! If you are one of those people remember to not give up no matter how much you die!
