Payday 3 is an interesting tale.

We all know/heard about how the launch went. With server issues out the wazoo and many flawed gameplay mechanics bogging down the experience, the game's launch was a complete disaster. There is no denying that. Since then, the flow of actual content in the game (in terms of new weapons, heists and things of that ilk) has been dreadfully slow. For the past nearly 7 months or so, the game has been in an interesting limbo in terms of content.

HOWEVER

During those months during "Operation Medic Bag," the game has made many fixes, overhauls and updates to either improve, completely change or overhaul certain mechanics and systems in the game. Now with many of these major fixes and changes out of the way, Payday 3 is finally receiving new content again! Following the release of Boys In Blue, the second heist added as part of the year one roadmap, I fully believe that this will mark the turning point for Payday 3.
The game at it's core is exceedingly fun. The gunplay is satisfying, the movement is smooth and the overall feel of the game is great. With the systems surrounding the core game being changed and fixed as time goes on, the game is primed to be saved.

If you're on the fence about trying this game, I would dive in and try for yourself. Now is the perfect time to give it a try while it's on sale! PAYDAY 3 is on the road to recovery, and it seems that the speed is about to pick up!

The setting is what really drives this game for me. I love the idea of big ol' diesel war mechs in a post WW1 world. Watching your machines marching across the battlefield, and dumping fire down upon the poor souls in front of them gives a special kind of satisfaction that I haven't really found in any other game so far.
When it comes to the campaign, the story is nothing special, and it can have some downright goofy moments or characters, but if you just let yourself have fun with it, it's engaging enough to keep you entertained.
As for the gameplay, my experience with RTS games is very limited, with this title being my biggest experience with one yet. I didn't quite know what to expect coming in, but after getting past the tutorial and the first few missions, I found myself really enjoying the game! It comes with what you'd expect: capture resource collectors, such as iron mines or oil rigs to produce more defenses, units, and buildings, of which you use to either attack against, or defend from whoever you're facing, whether it be AI or another player. Each unit has it's own strengths and weaknesses, meaning you need to plan your attacks or defenses with a good composition for any scenario. However, this all seems pretty basic for the genre. The real golden ticket here is the game's setting. Like I said, I love giant WW1 era mechs, and they work perfectly in this game. It's fun to look at, and it just simply "feels" cool. For that reason alone, I can happily give the game a thumbs up!

A small child walked up to me, pointed a sword at my chest, and said "I'm gonna punch you in the throat", and walked off without ever saying another word.

I got all that for free

The game as it stands is pretty unique, fun, and has a great concept behind it. If the devs stick with it, and give it enough time and care, it'll turn into a classic

Foxhole, as a concept, is original, intriguing, and sounds extremely fun on paper.
In execution, you get a different experience. While yes, it absolutely has it's fun moments, and nail biting battles, the one major drawback to this game is the people who play it.

Now, before I continue, let me preface this by saying I have met, and made friends with, some genuinely awesome people in this game. Some people play and treat this game as it should be treated: as a game. Others? Take things a bit too seriously.

Those "others" are some of the most toxic, loudmouthed, control freaks I've ever seen in gaming. You will be verbally castrated for making a single, simple mistake. Accidentally hit a teammate during a chaotic fight? You're the worst person to have ever lived. Ask somebody to move their truck so you can spawn a vehicle your squad desperately needs? You're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who just needs to "Shut up and wait." These people sweat, cry, whine, and scream bloody murder when their demands aren't met, or you don't follow their order's to the last syllable. I am all for teamwork, and working together. It's the literal basis the game is founded on! But when many players are constantly clashing in chat, or bickering over the voice communications, it makes enjoying the game difficult. And sadly, these players are in no short supply. It's a rarity to meet other people who just play casually, and want to have a good time.

However! Should you happen to meet those people? The ones who just want to have fun? You're bound for memorable adventures! Sneaking into enemy territory to disrupt their supply lines! Building a line of bunkers and trenches to hold your territory! Or being the literal lifeline of a battle, by manufacturing and delivering supplies to your comrades at the frontlines, all the while dodging enemy partisans!

The game really does stand out as a full fledged war effort from both sides, and only the side with the best teamwork and tactics will win. It's up to you, and the people on your team, (The Colonials or The Wardens), to work together to conquer the map, and claim victory! Foxhole, at it's best, has the potential to become one of the most unique, large scale conflict games on the market. Sadly, it's toxic community holds it back from it's full potential.

Is it worth a buy? Despite it's community, yes. The moments where it does shine are some of my most exciting and happiest memories in gaming, watching as well crafted plans come together, and a battle is won by teamwork, and a well equipped war effort.

TL;DR- The game is fun, but suffers immensely from it's community.

The evening sun was making it's journey below the treeline, night shrouding the open field. The thumping of the massive "Tank" (as it's called), growing louder as it approached our position in the trees. We had been watching it for a few minutes, planning out our attack to bring the murderous machine down. After a moment of discussion, and seeing what supplies we had, my friend and I formulated our trap: we'd pile up any gas tanks and other explosives we had in the middle of the field, before dropping a boombox on top of our makeshift mega-bomb to lure the Tank right on top of it. Once we were far enough away, my trusty hunting rifle would deliver the triggering shot to blast the behemoth to bits.

How did it go so wrong?

The first step was simple enough; our bomb was planted and the bait was set! However, we did not expect the pack of Runners to burst from a nearby yard to investigate our trap. The Tank was slower to take the bait, and by the time he had taken an interest in our little lure, the boombox's song had ended, and our megabomb was left idle. I volunteered to go set down another boombox, only to be discovered by not only the Runners, but the Tank as well. Their sensors lit red: the fight had begun. My friend and I darted into a nearby house, locking ourselves in the upstairs bathroom as their rocket blasts shook the foundations of our world. The windows only provided limited angles to fire back, and our ammo pool was dangerously low. Our only option was to run as fast as we could and make for the trees, hoping to lose our mechanical adversaries. So we did. We threw out a firework, distracting our attackers, as we burst through the front door and ran as fast as our meatball loving swedish legs would carry us! My friend made it to the trees, seconds before a shot from one of the Runners put me down just meters behind him. Neither of us had any adrenaline shots left; I wasn't getting up from this one..

(Actual Review)
That story right there was probably the most fun I had during the free weekend of Generation Zero. And as fun and as action packed as that may sound, the game overall is rather slow. You and up to three friends, must explore an arcipelago that has been overrun by military grade killer robots. Scavenge for supplies and ammo, loot up local homes, and hunt some robots. But that's it. That's the entire game. There are bikes you can ride around on for faster transport, and quests you can do that are basically the same thing over and over again: "Go here looking for people, find this note/recording, the people moved here. Go there, find this note/recording-" etc etc. Along the way, you obviously fight robots, and the fights generally don't last very long. Once you know where to shoot the robo-bois, they go down in 1-2 shots. The game has a LOT of potential to be a huge hit, in my opinion. It has an original idea, good graphics, a decent weapon-rarity system, and some cool ass robots. However, the depth of the game is as shallow as a puddle. As it stands, currently, there's not much to do; If they had more content, the game would be worth a buy. But as it stands, it's not for me. However, I'll still give it a positive review because for what little content there was? It was a lot of fun.

Ah, Majesty 2. I remember you! I played you for hours and hours on end when I was younger! Oh the memories.. giants sweeping down my guard towers in one blow.. endless hordes of werewolves and other beasties' swamping through my kingdoms.. legions of skeletons slaughtering my peasants.. wait a minute. Now I remember why I stopped playing Majesty 2! Cause it's hard as hell. There is a balance between a good challenge, and a fun game. This game goes for a monumental challenge, so much so, that the game itself becomes frustrating and borderline unplayable. Your heroes will have the lifespan of a gnat, and your kingdom will be wiped out faster than you can blink. However, it has charming visuals and a smooth, clear interface. And when the game isn't beating you senseless, it's a satisfying experience when things go right. (Sadly, they almost never do.) I give this game a hesitant recommendation. Grab on sale, pass for full price.
Pros:
-Charming Visuals
-Even more charming voices
-Clean interface

Cons:
-You will never beat it.
-If you do, you're a god
-Or you're a masochist.

Easily my favorite out of the FarCry franchise. The performance given by Greg Bryk as Joseph Seed, as well as the acting for his Heralds (siblings) Is some of the best in the series. The map outshines 3 and 4, as does the gunplay. Many people complain about the story missions interrupting whatever you may be doing, but I personally don't mind it too much. Speaking of the story, it's probably my favorite from the franchise. I love the cult (praise be to the Father), I love Montana, and I love this game. 8/10 from me!

The DLC, however is.. well. It exists. Should you agknowledge it? Maybe "Hours of Darkness," but not the other two. I pre-ordered the Gold Edition, and was not disappointed with the base game, and content with H.O.D. But Mars and Zombies were total busts which I couldn't even finish.

Easily the best out of the three DLC. This one feels like it has the most to bring, as well as the nicest setting / concept for all DLC. I recommend this DLC over Zombies and Mars. Seriously. Don't buy zombies and mars.
