I've been playing Gems of War for years now. I first stumbled upon it when I was looking for a successor to Puzzle Quest, which was made by the same company. I tried some alternatives, like the co-branded Marvel Puzzle Quest, but I liked Gems of War the best. It was the most F2P friendly variant.

Over the years, updates have leaned heavily on monetization and RNG/luck-based systems. Customer support/experience is also worse than before. It's likely attribute to the studio splitting their time between GoW and their new mobile game, Puzzle Quest 3.

I still play the game but I'd be hesitant to recommend it to anyone. It's still F2P friendly but the devs have clearly stopped caring as much about this game. I'd recommend finding a game that's better supported.
