Marvel Rivals is a team objective based shooter where each character has specific abilities much like Overwatch. Only one player may choose each Character(Marvel Heroes or Villains both can be on the same team) such as Captain America, Loki, Magneto, Moon Knight, Scarlet Witch, Rocket Racoon, and Spider Man. You have your 3 classes Vanguard(tank: Bruce Banner (Hulk), Captain America, Doctor Strange, Groot, Venom, Magneto, Peni Parker, Thor, Venom), Duelist(DPS: Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hela, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Magik, Moon Knight, Namor, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, Star-Lord, Storm, The Punisher, Winter Soldier, Wolverine) and Strategist(Support: Adam Warlock, Cloak and Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki, Luna Snow, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon) with each of either abilities unique in individually more complex. Im going to address the elephant in the room and directly say that the characters are more complex than Overwatch characters and some have similarities. Additionally some characters have "Team-Up" abilities where historically in the comics they boost each other with shared powers like Venom and Spider Man, with Symbiote Spider Man, or Hulk and Wolverine where Hulk throws him. Some Team-Ups give flat out buff such as 15% more healing or damage. I really enjoy this genre of games and this game is a great new look on the genre that makes it feel fresh and fun. The game is not "Pay-To-Win" and the cash items are the battlepass and customization items such as movie and comic book specific costumes(skins), emotes, and sprays. The game even has its own "in universe" costumes. It has a story-line and collectible comic book pages with alot of back story, but it sums up to a Galatica variant brings the heroes together to save specific timelines and they are fighting to preserve timelines, and something about her eating some energy source but she saving it. It features a tutorial, Play Vs AI(easy, medium hard), Quickplay, and competitive. The Map design and art is colorful with 5 base maps(Yggsard, Space Wakanda, Symbiote stuff, Hydra base, and Tokyo 2099 with different variants 2 each for payload, and 3 each for King of the Hill. Overall i highly recommend this game even if Superheroes and Villains are not your thing(They arnt really mine, but i enjoy the movies and shows).
