tl;dr This is a completely excellent game that portrays a fine balance between sandbox and adventure. 10/10

This game, I have to mention, is continually compared to minecraft and thusly people are turned off from it. Considering it simply a 2D version of Minecraft, they brush it off. While I'm not going to say one is better than the other, I am going to admit that they are completely different, despite their similarities. Terraria has a very good reason to be 2D, and it is not simply to diffrentiate from Minecraft. It is to incorporate the massive gameplay that it has to offer, that Minecraft doesn't.
At it's heart, Minecraft is simply a building game. Sure, you could argue that there is much more, but in the same sense that Terraria's building (being that it lacks a third dimension) is lacking comparitively, Minecraft's adventure aspects are lacking.
At it's heart, Terraria is an adventure and exploration game, about going deep or high, exploring and finding new items or conquering bosses.
Enough with the Minecraft comparison, I'll now look at Terraria as a seperate game. It's a sandbox/rpg/adventure/whatever it wants game with some modabilty (though not technically supported) and hours of content that will keep you playing constantly. Not only does it have many addicting factors, but it is completely multiplayer, meaning you can play with any ammount of your friends on a game at once. The only side note about this game, regarding multiplayer, is public servers are difficult due to the small size of the world and just generally because you can break blocks. It's a randomly generated world which can get you coming back every time, and has many different paths, or classes, to go through and seperate strategies to advance through the game. You can choose to scavenge or mine, or get loot from the harder extreme mode boss drops.

All in all, this game, as said before, is a solid 10/10. Everything about it is pure perfection, aside from the small worlds.
