Fun little game. I enjoyed it. Took me about 2 and a half hours to beat.
I could play it again, I think.

Nice that they added some difficulty modes.
I wish there were some post-game items that you can buy with all the money you get.

I'm very pleasantly surprised by Bethesda and Virtuos.
Perhaps the key to the success of this remaster is that at its core, it is still the original Oblivion, and the original engine.

I've had fun playing as a mage, despite the annoyances of magic in early game. I just touch people with a Darth Sidious-style lightning hand and stab them to death with a dagger. The magic system is really versatile and fun, and it's nice that you can take on many different types of quest-lines that suit your character.

The pricing is fair enough for a remaster of this quality, in my opinion. At the very least they didn't go with the new "industry standard" of $70.
All of the changes they made feel like they add to the experience, rather than take away. Some of the UIs are more intuitive, the graphics make the game look beautiful, and the animations bring a feel of modernity to the game.

Of course, for fans of the original, they're probably still happy to see radiant ai up to its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as usual, lol.

Despite this, I think what I'm most excited for with it being based on the original is the potential for modding with the original creation kit. That would've been completely impossible if it was entirely UE5 slop. I can't entirely wrap my head around how they have UE5 doing rendering only, but I'm glad they did.

So imagine if Windows could actually be customized to look good.
Then get Wallpaper Engine.

Never thought I would be into a singleplayer card game like this but Balatro proved me wrong.
I recommend giving it a chance to prove you wrong too.
P.S. The house always wins!

Rough launch or not, the No Man's Sky of today is everything that was promised and more.
I cannot absolve the devs of false promises, but I am also free to praise them for the merits they've earned.
VR, expeditions, years of updates, diverse missions, aesthetic patches, different types of bases, exosuits, submarines, *actually existing* multiplayer, new ships, multitools, and I was shocked revisiting the game after a few years.

No Man's Sky in 2024 is a completely different game.

Please read if you are a Valve Index User

As I was scrolling through the Autumn Sale today, as of "11/25/2020", I remembered that I forgot to give a review of this game, back when I still had it. While I enjoy the original Skyrim, this port was unacceptable. As of the last time I played it back on New Year's Eve, having received a Valve Index for Christmas, I bought a bundle of VR games to celebrate, including this one. However, much to my dismay, after "Hey, you're finally awake" my carriage went flying into the ground, and I nearly had fainted from motion sickness as I flung across the map and back onto the track, almost as if the game was trying to compensate for the failing physics. Then eventually, I headed into the gate, ready to begin my journey.... or so I thought. The carriage veered off course, colliding with the wall, and after waiting 10 minutes, the game had still not started. I was permanently stuck in the carriage.

After 30 minutes or so of research, I modified the physics files of the game and fixed it to the point where I was able to "start" the game. However, after running from the Dragon and escaping, I discovered the "midget" glitch. If my trackers fail for even a second, I become a 2 foot tall gnome that can barely pick things up, let alone run. On top of that, the controls were unintuitive, and generally bad to play with(but I could've gotten past this if not for the other annoyances).

All in all, this is another Bethesda cash grab. I'm not sure if this is better on other VR headsets, but assuming things haven't changed since I last played this, the Valve Index port can be described as lousy at best and abysmal at worst. Stick to playing regular Skyrim if you have a Valve Index. I can say that definitively.

Other than the classic EA game crashes where the game dies from alt-tabbing, this is actually pretty good. NOTE: I have a very high-end PC, so I can't accurately speak for performance on lower end PCs.

Gameplay:
The fighting is a lot better than the starship combat in Battlefront 2. The power management system is a lot of fun to mess around with, and if used correctly, it could help turn the tides of the fight. I love all the different options for loadouts, and it lets you customize your ships to your favorite playstyles. There are only a few gamemodes, but they're all fun. I only really have two complaints, and that would be the turning/aim, which is a little wonky but probably better with a HOTAS, and the highlighting system to target the enemies. The highlighting system IMO would be much better if they did things like highlighting weak points on the bigger ships. The tutorial for the capital ship battles doesn't tell you where any of the weak points are on the Rebel flagship, and I still don't know how to take them down effectively at the time of this writing.

Story:
As other people have said, the story at the beginning is very predictable, but I don't really think that's an oversight more as it is just setting up the plot. I'll update this with a full evaluation of the story when I finish it.

Graphics:
Downright amazing(assuming you can run it). I love flying through holes in the spaceship debris, then circling around behind a Star Destroyer while looking at the galaxy around me. The cockpit of the ship seems much higher quality than the ones in BF2. Only thing I would recommend is allowing us to change camera orientation(or at least have a temporary third person button/camera mode) so that we can see how our spaceship's skins look out in space.

For those who are hesitating:
I get it, I know. This is EA, they don't exactly have the best reputation. But I think they learned their lesson from the tanks in revenue they took from Battlefront 2. Being voted as the world's "most hated company" and literally being the reason cited for making microtransactions illegal, tends to change a company. Fallen Order and the migration/integration of EA with the Steam Store had/has made me think of EA in a better light lately. This game has *no* m-transactions, and after only an hour of playtime, I've already almost earned enough points from playing to get a legendary skin. (And after I spent half of them!)

Advice for EA to keep this game popular:
1. More gamemodes! Even if it's a while from now, eventually just the 3 existing gamemodes will grow stale.
2. More ships! Want to fly the Millennium Falcon, Anyone?

One of the best games I've ever played, hands down. Just Cause 4 had some fun gimmicks, but this is the genuine experience. I hope they go back to this formula for Just Cause 5. You'll never know true fun until you fly into a helicopter on a wingsuit, then crash it into a fuel tank.

(And readd C4). I also think the weather system would be pretty cool if it was across the entire map, and not limited to zones.

Although some people in it are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and the game itself isn't really all that muchf, SCP: SL is fun to play. For the most part, what I enjoy most about it is the people I meet in it, and i definitely don't recommend it to people without microphones. Without it, you can't speak and it really takes away from the roleplaying aspect- or if you just want to goof around. Personally, I'd just find a relaxed server and go have some fun with my friends, or some pretty cool strangers

EDIT: Grammar

So after playing a few years later, I've decided to change my review. The better parts of the community have gotten better, but the worst parts of the community have gotten even worse. The value and fun of the game you have depends solely on the people you play against.

On top of that, Behavior Interactive has to be the most ignorant developer I've ever seen. While killers are struggling against discord-comm using, Rank 1 SWF groups due to the terrible, sub-par matchmaking, they decide the best thing for the game is to nerf Ruin, one of the best killer perks that already struggles due to bad totem spawn locations.

It is my belief that at the current time of this review, Behavior cares more about maximizing profits from DLC than fixing their game.
