Decent game, pretty fun once you get over the difficulty.

Playing the game multiple time for different endings kinda sucks and for the most part they're all the same with no real feeling of accomplishment. Great setting, poor ending, not worth the purchase.

Just play the original if you already have it, this one is fun but feels new *just enough* to get on sale. Otherwise it's just the original game with more filler.

Edit:
Also the zero-g controls suck worse than dead space 3, which is a surprise within itself.
The last quarter of the game has lost it's intensity as well, offering many break points instead of feeling as if an onslaught is right behind you.

Your first hour might be spent wandering around getting lost and gathering up random quests, but after you find your footing and get a few party members, combat is more possible. I like the art direction in this game, it reminds me more of the style that the matrix initially struck for cyberpunk given a space twist. As much as I dislike the term cyberpunk ever since movies like Akira turned it into neon vomit about pissing on what you want and fisting the man, this seems more like a return to roots.

The gameplay can be likened to Fallout 1 and the start can be grueling. I still don't feel like I'm doing much besides dumping stats into skills. The tag system acts like a jumpstart in a combat/skill system that's already EXP starved. Combat in the beginning of the game requires you tag your desired weapon skill and get the associated feat, or else your accuracy and damage are quite terrible.

Combat skills have specific play styles, such as an SMG will be outranged by a rifle on most days, but an SMG can gamble on bursting down enemies even with 5% accuracy. Rifles by comparison can be used as a sniper rifle or short bursts that give high risk and reward. Overall, you might want to spoil yourself and look up someone's starter build if you want to enjoy the beginning of the game more instead of being confused about why you're dying to frogs.

It was really worth a dollar, but like a really crisp dollar.

Currently this game is eager to capture the gameplay that made homeworld 1 and 2 so desirable. It's striking it's own path with some analogous features such as the command view, but ultimately for a small team I'm very excited to see where they take this small project.

During my initial playthrough I will say the UI and controls leave more to be desired, but ultimately the groundwork for a great experience is there and I'm excited to see it through.

Too much has changed and while a nice continuation of the story set out in the loosely defined in the original game, ultimately falls short of the entertaining resource balancing act that kept me so engaged.

While the new system fits building out a city more, the hex design feels uninspired and the logistics network is nonexistent, even though the original game only featured road building as logistics. Exploration is much nicer, scouts exploring an area instead of individual locations. I would've appreciated more scout-autonomy though.

Ultimately, it mixed up so much it might've well been a completely different game, which is nice and all, but I felt nothing in it let me truly adapt and thrive to an environment, forcing you into tough situations that feel loaded against you, in no fault of poor planning or failure to adapt, but simply due to scarcity and requiring you to plan out your game based off the events that happen along the way you could only know about after a few playthroughs

Puts a few twists on the combat of the first game that are stylish and cool, but ultimately ruins the flow of tearing through hoards of enemies. Having no doubt been re-imagined in the wake of helldivers 2, a lot of the game's system is always-online and has a very short singleplayer that will disappoint those who were a fan of the original. Do not recommend, get on sale. Will likely be 50% off before the year is out.

A fun shooter that gives a nice twist for fast paced action and exploration.

Great for a couple hours of singleplayer bliss.
