Will look into the google stuff since its mostly the 2k hour achievement left im aiming for and no point making it max setting for that. Cheers.
I played around with the issue as your edited review text describes. This may be because you are setting things extremely low. You might be able to toggle the quality level to low and then back to very low and it will probably stick (GPU Drivers, Windows Updates, and/or computer restarts may affect this). Very low has some unique settings in the game engine and the game that can do weird things, it is unlikely to change. Higher settings and resolutions should work fine. There are various threads (or google) about command line tweaks and scripts to start in fixed resolutions for Unity and what not if you are only interested in grinding with low settings or something.
