If you enjoy the idea of trying to survive a crash landing on a hostile alien planet, filled with awe-inspiring and fear-inducing environments including the remnants of an advanced alien civilization then this is the game for you!

In my opinion this is the single greatest survival game on the market, with a compelling environment and a story so enjoyable that it will feel bittersweet to see it come to a close.

An ULTRA fast paced shooter that encourages you to be creative with your destruction.

The story missions vary wildly and have just enough plot contained to keep you intrigued but not at all distracted from the ULTRA violence.

Also if you've recently played some older horror games, this is a great game to vent your frustration on some retro looking monsters.

The Definitive Edition adds all the features that should be expected of an RTS by modern standards, while still keeping the original gameplay.

I had never gotten into AoE2 until this version came out as I couldn't stand all the painstaking micro needed to perform basic tasks. AoE2:DE comes with features such as unit order queues, hotkeys for all structures, easier unit grouping, and many more Quality of Life improvements.

The story was a bit... heavy handed in the more excentric aspects of this game. However even though it was not at all subtle, the story seemed self aware of that fact. In-Lore explainations of why the story is as blunt as it is.

Its hard for me to fully explain. As I was going through the game any time I would be "turned off" by an aspect of the story, within minutes it would make it okay again. Either by introducing a new aspect, or explaining a previous one.

The Aesthetic of the game is cute, calming, and nerve racking all at the same time. However I don't think they intended the game to be as "Paranoia Enducing" as it is. Multiple times through out starting the game (as well as the game description itself) it lets you know that everything is fine, and some of the art can be paranoia enducing.

Related to that, I am here to tell you that There is literally nothing to be afraid of, there is no jumpscares so feel free to relax and enjoy the ride and unique aesthetic . (its an abstract spoiler, so open unless you really want a 100% blind entry)

All around, I would reccomend this game, as well as reccomend that you go in with an open mind and a bit of patience. If you're like me, most problems you have with it will be fixed shortly after they develop.

oh sweet micro transactions are gone. Time to play again.

Best played with friends

Starbound has had many different faces over the years, and thus has had very differnt types of reviews over the years. I've had the for a very long time, and seen every different direction they've tried to take the game. Every time they have a new build I play it to its end game (I have more hours on the "unstable build") and I have enjoyed every build so far. However I can definitely say that it has improved over time. I was hesitant for a while to reccomend the game, but in it's current build I would say it is definitely worth reccomending. Soon 1.0 will be coming out, and based on this game's trends and the announced upcoming features, this game will only get better.

Maybe wait for 1.0 if your not sure, but I still say it's a good game as is.
