Combat feels unresponsive, enemies don't even flinch when being hit.
Using a melee weapon is incredibly dizzying, doing a whirlwind makes me wanna throw up.
You can't even turn off head bob when running.

All these problems are exacerbated in co-op which is terrible, laggy and let's only the host interact with things.
I had a really bad time.

Top 10 Goobie Woobies

Edit: They released a fix for the two major bugs (the magnet deleted the exp orbs and you couldn't unlock some characters) the next morning, followed by some more balance and bug fixes a few hours later.

After playing some more these are my thoughts:
There's still a good amount of bugs and balance changes that need to happen but they are not so game breaking as before and I have hope they would get fixed as time goes by.

I think one of the biggest problems this game suffers from besides the obvious ones that I already mentioned is visual clarity, some attacks are not telegraphed properly mixed with lots of visual clutter from effects and the games very basic color scheme makes it hard to distinguish what's going on when it becomes hectic.

Still good fun so far, hoping to see more good things soon.

I honestly just tried it as a joke, but despite having some pretty major bugs at the moment it's still fun and feels very satisfying to play.

This positive review is based on the fact that this literally just released and the belief that these bugs would be simple enough to fix (in the coming days hopefully) and that it would continue to receive more content, QoL features and fixes in the future.

I'll keep playing more and see how it goes, but at least for right now it looks promising.

Disclaimer:
I didn’t try this in single player, I bought this game to play in two player co-op, based on the store page description "best with 2-3 players, but playable with more" as the main reason.

I like puzzle games, I like co-op games and I really like co-op puzzle games, but unfortunately Escape Simulator fails in that department.

For comparison, we can take a look at ‘We Were Here’ as an example for a game that does co-op well.
‘We Were Here’ is designed for two players in mind, putting each player in a completely different environment, giving them different tools and providing each of them with only half of the solution to the puzzle, forcing them to communicate and cooperate in order to win.

In contrast, Escape Simulator seems to be designed for a single player with only minimal changes when playing in co-op;
Each map is very small, claustrophobic and filled with many interact-able objects which you can pick up, and since each player can pick up things and store them in their inventory or throw them around (some of which can even break into many smaller pieces) it creates chaos and confusion as each player is looking at a different direction and is unaware of the actions of the other.

When both players are in the same room it means you really only need one player to actually solve the puzzle and the other player is just in the way by blocking the view or interacting with objects.

The only difference between solo and co-op is that some puzzles change slightly to force two players to interact with them simultaneously.
For example in one of the rooms you need to adjust the position of 2 levers, when in single player you can just freely move them but when playing co-op the levers don’t hold their position so both players have to hold them.

That’s it, that's all that makes this a “co-op game, best with 2-3 players”.

The game ends up being worse in co-op than just having one player stream it to the other while playing solo, because what’s the point of having two or more (I can’t even imagine what a nightmare this would be with more) players if they are both looking and interacting with the same stuff anyway.

I do wanna note some features that I did like, although most of them just make the game better for solo play:
  • The way you can pick up and throw items feels pretty nice.
  • You can inspect and pin items to your screen (useful for notes etc.) and then move them around (though you can’t resize them, and some have bad textures making it hard to read as it is).
  • When a player is inspecting an item other players can join in and inspect it with them, with the caveat that while they can interact with things like buttons and dials, only the person holding the item can rotate and if he stops inspecting the other player gets booted out of it.
  • Also worth noting about the above points, when inspecting, the game seems to take a snapshot of the screen and blur the background so you can’t actually see what’s happening in front of you (this caused some annoying situations and miscommunications until we figured that out). And more importantly, some items can’t be viewed properly when “guest inspecting”, when my friend inspected a remote control camera it worked fine for him but when I tried to watch what he was doing I just saw the camera rotating infinitely (which again caused some confusion) and I have no idea how that’s acceptable for the developers in a multiplayer game.

I think this game might be decent enough solo, but if you’re looking for a good co-op experience you should keep looking.

It's alright, there are some really well done sections where you're surfing / gliding / teleporting and the movement feels really good and some other times it's just kinda janky to climb and platform.

There are some mildly missable achievements but they're really hard to miss and there's chapter select.

I enjoyed it but it was a little on the short side, and the coop puzzles were kinda weak.
The 3D parts were really well made though and I hope Rusty Lake would do more of those.

Edit: This game made me want to play Death Stranding for a long time and I finally did it.

Was pleasantly surprised with this, while being pretty short (3 hours for 100% achievements) and not having too much content I still enjoyed my time with it.

You're tasked with activating 10 monoliths scattered across the moon and delivering packages between them, on the way you'll encounter enemies and have to balance how much weight you carry as the weapons, energy packs and ladders you carry slow you down and make you an easy target but as you progress you'll unlock more upgrades that will make your life easier.

The game is poorly optimized and when I first launched it I had low fps and drops but after tuning down the graphics it still looked good and ran fine.

Worth checking out! It's a cool game.

Game keeps crashing, wanted to post about it in the forums but I've looked and they're filled with people with the same problems asking for help and no answer from the developers so I'm not gonna bother wasting my time on this.

I was really excited to play this but it turned out to be trash.
Story wasn't good, physics weren't good and the controls were absolute garbage.

There were very few sequences that actually felt fun, most of the time it ranged between being a boring slog at best to being a frustrating battle against the bad [level design / physics / bugs] at worst.

As the game progressed I was introduced to more and more bugs (and a straight up crash one time), some bricked me from doing certain things which almost blocked me from getting some endings and achievements. Trying to get 100% achievements on this was a pain.

You can't even access the options while in a level.
Do no recommend.

Kind of a hidden gem that I'm surprised got so little exposure, fun physics platformer with collectibles and big variety of unlockables in the form of skins and trails.

Most levels are "exploration" levels where you need to collect stuff or do some puzzle(y) platforming and about a third are shorter more contained time trials.

It gets difficult at later levels but 100% is still manageable if you're into that, if you're not it might just be a chill platformer for you.

My only gripe with the game is that you have to wait a few seconds on death and respawn animations and there's no quick reset button which this game would really benefit from.

Got it from a bundle and not so sure about full price but if you're into 3D platformers and catch this on sale it's a pretty fair deal.
Controller highly recommended
