Tinykin is a 3D platformer that really manages to scratch that collectathon itch.

You will go through six unique zones each packed with things to do in every corner and exploring them is just a delight, it's very satisfying to move around the room which is what you'll be doing most of the time.

They really nailed the movement with the soapboard having you unlock rails you can grind on, as well as one of your abilities letting you stack your tinykin into a ladder allowing you more freedom of movement as you progress a level.

It takes around 10 hours to 100% all achievements and it isn't very hard to do, I do wish there was an upgrade that helps your track missing objectives after you finish the game or something but I just made sure to fully explore everything before moving on so it wasn't a big deal.

There's also extra challenge races that are not required for any of the achievements but are very fun to do and reward you with skins, and getting the platinum medals can be quite hard.

(Note: there's a bug where to have some achievements unlock you need to revisit all levels, but it's barely an issue and the only one I encountered)

Overall it's just a very solid game, highly recommended!

If you're looking for a good time go play the free [Time on Frog Island - Prologue] instead, it's actually a better experience than this and it's what made me believe the full game was worth playing in the first place (back when it was still named Trading Time).

Time on Frog Island features an absolutely beautiful art style that's doing most of the heavy lifting but unfortunately that's where the compliments end as the game just fails at being fun.
  • Game doesn't really provide clear goals or directions, NPC's only communicate by drawings which will often be misunderstood leading you on wild goose chases.
  • Many items and landmarks have no purpose and would act as red herrings when on said wild goose chases.
  • As you'll spend most of your time running around trying to figure out what you even need to do you'll soon discover the game features a day/night cycle for seemingly no good reason and that NPC's go to sleep forcing you to run back to camp and wait for the next day.
  • When you'll wake up again you will also find out there's also (random?) days when it rains which prevent you from doing some activities and are only needed to make an item wet which you can already do by throwing it in the water.
  • There's also no map which could have been really helpful at mitigating some of the headache.
  • Only 3 permanent upgrades available as a quest rewards, 2 of which are totally useless and the other needed for an achievement and a mechanic that most people won't even discover.
  • Speaking of achievements, some are counterintuitive to fun in a game of this nature such as missable achievements or throwing items 1000 times (why?).

All of this is before even mentioning that it also has some critical bugs that can be really demoralizing like achievements that fail to unlock or having items you worked hard to get glitched out of the map.

The game seems like it had stopped receiving support shortly after releasing and so I suspect non of this would ever get addressed, just one of those games that gets released and immediately abandoned which is disheartening as this game has some of the makings of a great one but instead just ends up being a frustrating waste of time.

Decent hidden object game, looks like the devs really like cats.

* Paid DLC is required for full achievements.
* Adopt don't shop.

On the surface this looks like a very straightforward and simple arena shooter but what makes this game really great is the amount of polish and attention to detail.
The gun-play, the movement, all the little gimmicks and secrets make you forget you're actually playing a $5 game ($3 when discounted).

Looking at the patch notes it seems the dev has put a lot of care and effort into this game and honestly I don't think I can praise this game enough, my only complaint would be that a weapon wheel option would be better than the current weapon bar.

It's a short game, would probably take you under 5 hours to 100% all the achievements which aren't very difficult.

Do yourself a favor and give this one a try.

This is a very lukewarm recommendation.
It's kinda meh, barely a game and more of a pretty toy.

There is a very limited amount of patterns which you will quickly learn to recognize and you will often spend more time watching the level ending animation than actually doing anything.
After playing it for the first time it's probably good for short 5-minute bursts before you'll get bored again.

Would only recommend you get this if you're buying the bundle with Linia Super which is actually fun as it's so cheap.
Also why do you need to accept these intrusive ToS[www.nexent.io] and Privacy Policy[www.nexent.io] for a game like this?

Despite some of the things I'm about to say, Filament a good game that is well worth your time if you're into puzzles.

Filament shares a lot of similarities with The Witness, the biggest ones being the variety of different mechanics and the fact it teaches you new things by letting you solve very simple puzzles and gradually ramping up the difficulty. (And they do get very hard). Due to the nature of the mechanics some puzzles felt like I was just brute forcing them.

The game also has some interesting side content in the form of environmental puzzles that you solve in computer terminals and they range from being pretty fun to just downright bonkers complexity.
When solving the computer terminal puzzles you’ll receive lore pieces in the form of text messages, but the problem is that there is an insane amount of them (mostly being just fluff) and the terminals are excruciatingly slow and uncomfortable to navigate their bad UI.

Besides the messages there's also the main story being told through the companion character that talks to you throughout the game. But I have to say after finishing the game I have absolutely zero idea about what the story was about.

On the technical side I encountered some bugs like the cable getting stuck on things, the robot completely separating from the cable and sometimes just inconsistent behavior when wrapping around certain angles leading to you being able to solve puzzles in ways I think were unintended.

Also when zooming out you can’t move your character and when using a controller there aren't any button icons which seems like a very basic thing to have.

On the artsy side the game looks beautiful and features a pleasant soundtrack.

You have a simple objective, draw a line to match the color sequence in each level.
Some of the levels will require precision timing and placement of your line and could get a bit challenging, but otherwise it's pretty chill.

It's a fairly short game with only 20 chapters, each featuring a unique beautiful visual theme and some varying rule set.
After completing each chapter you'll unlock 'Hot Mode', which is just a harder variant of that chapter.

Fun experience and definitely worth it for the price.

Combat feels unresponsive, enemies don't even flinch when being hit.
Using a melee weapon is incredibly dizzying, doing a whirlwind makes me wanna throw up.
You can't even turn off head bob when running.

All these problems are exacerbated in co-op which is terrible, laggy and let's only the host interact with things.
I had a really bad time.

Top 10 Goobie Woobies

Edit: They released a fix for the two major bugs (the magnet deleted the exp orbs and you couldn't unlock some characters) the next morning, followed by some more balance and bug fixes a few hours later.

After playing some more these are my thoughts:
There's still a good amount of bugs and balance changes that need to happen but they are not so game breaking as before and I have hope they would get fixed as time goes by.

I think one of the biggest problems this game suffers from besides the obvious ones that I already mentioned is visual clarity, some attacks are not telegraphed properly mixed with lots of visual clutter from effects and the games very basic color scheme makes it hard to distinguish what's going on when it becomes hectic.

Still good fun so far, hoping to see more good things soon.

I honestly just tried it as a joke, but despite having some pretty major bugs at the moment it's still fun and feels very satisfying to play.

This positive review is based on the fact that this literally just released and the belief that these bugs would be simple enough to fix (in the coming days hopefully) and that it would continue to receive more content, QoL features and fixes in the future.

I'll keep playing more and see how it goes, but at least for right now it looks promising.

Disclaimer:
I didn’t try this in single player, I bought this game to play in two player co-op, based on the store page description "best with 2-3 players, but playable with more" as the main reason.

I like puzzle games, I like co-op games and I really like co-op puzzle games, but unfortunately Escape Simulator fails in that department.

For comparison, we can take a look at ‘We Were Here’ as an example for a game that does co-op well.
‘We Were Here’ is designed for two players in mind, putting each player in a completely different environment, giving them different tools and providing each of them with only half of the solution to the puzzle, forcing them to communicate and cooperate in order to win.

In contrast, Escape Simulator seems to be designed for a single player with only minimal changes when playing in co-op;
Each map is very small, claustrophobic and filled with many interact-able objects which you can pick up, and since each player can pick up things and store them in their inventory or throw them around (some of which can even break into many smaller pieces) it creates chaos and confusion as each player is looking at a different direction and is unaware of the actions of the other.

When both players are in the same room it means you really only need one player to actually solve the puzzle and the other player is just in the way by blocking the view or interacting with objects.

The only difference between solo and co-op is that some puzzles change slightly to force two players to interact with them simultaneously.
For example in one of the rooms you need to adjust the position of 2 levers, when in single player you can just freely move them but when playing co-op the levers don’t hold their position so both players have to hold them.

That’s it, that's all that makes this a “co-op game, best with 2-3 players”.

The game ends up being worse in co-op than just having one player stream it to the other while playing solo, because what’s the point of having two or more (I can’t even imagine what a nightmare this would be with more) players if they are both looking and interacting with the same stuff anyway.

I do wanna note some features that I did like, although most of them just make the game better for solo play:
  • The way you can pick up and throw items feels pretty nice.
  • You can inspect and pin items to your screen (useful for notes etc.) and then move them around (though you can’t resize them, and some have bad textures making it hard to read as it is).
  • When a player is inspecting an item other players can join in and inspect it with them, with the caveat that while they can interact with things like buttons and dials, only the person holding the item can rotate and if he stops inspecting the other player gets booted out of it.
  • Also worth noting about the above points, when inspecting, the game seems to take a snapshot of the screen and blur the background so you can’t actually see what’s happening in front of you (this caused some annoying situations and miscommunications until we figured that out). And more importantly, some items can’t be viewed properly when “guest inspecting”, when my friend inspected a remote control camera it worked fine for him but when I tried to watch what he was doing I just saw the camera rotating infinitely (which again caused some confusion) and I have no idea how that’s acceptable for the developers in a multiplayer game.

I think this game might be decent enough solo, but if you’re looking for a good co-op experience you should keep looking.
