Almost perfectly combines real-time strategy and turn-based combat. Jumping from beacon to beacon allowing you to plan your route across and while it is heartbreaking to sink 30-40 minutes into a run, only for it to end right at the end, beating the boss never stops to be satisfying from overcoming the odds.

That doesn't mean the game is perfect. It has a lot of niggling problems which just feels like it shouldn't be a part of it. An example being the encroaching rebel fleet that's always on your tail is only seen for it's next jump you'll make. Not any jump afterwards. Since the fleet's advancement and your jumps work simultaneously, the prediction doesn't help that much.

There are a variety of mods which not only breath more life and fixes some problems into the game but attempts to create a fully expanded universe (Captain's Edition and Multiverse being the biggest examples and Multiverse succeeding more). In my opinion, the base game is a brilliant package with gameplay you get absorbed into but succeeds most at having a solid foundation for mods to work off of, creating an absolutely outstanding experience if you wanted to try any of the mods available.

The comedy in this game is top-notch and second-to-none. Despite a notably absence after "Fleeing the Complex", the writing and gags have not lost the impact they had all those years ago.

For those that play it back in the day, practically nothing is lost in this official release while bringing the new "Completing the Mission". A final game which the route is decided by the previous ending achieved in "Infiltrating the Airship" and "Fleeing the Complex".

As an additional bonus, It's DRM-Free (as much as I could tell) so you can save it, store it and play it without requiring steam after it's first launch :)

A lot of people compare Paladins to Overwatch. In quite a few ways, its justified however Paladins has enough differences that allows itself to stand on its own two feet, even without the Overwatch comparisons. Paladins doesn't have a set theme for their champions, allowing for a more diverse range of champions. Players in Paladins can customise how they want to play using cards to improve certain aspects of different champions, from more time in the air to recovering health when using abilities. Each champion's abilities can be put under a category, main attack, special attack, ranged ability (for close combat champions), damaging ability, movement ability and ultimate attack. Paladins also has the daily login bonus and First Win of The Day bonus however, the daily login bonus (at the time of writing this) gives a small amount of paid currency for free so by logging in for so long, you may get stuff you'd usually have to pay for free and the First Win of The Day sometimes has additional events, giving stuff alongside the original bonus.

TL:DR Overall, Paladins has got enough character and gameplay aspects to be considered a good game to play. Considering its also free, not much excuse to not give it the benefit of the doubt and try it out.
