Darktide is another lovechild of Left 4 Dead but set in the grim futur of the 40k millenium,

The game has a solid fondation in term of gampelay, partially inherited from it's big sister Vermintide,
Sadly many design decision did not tag along as Darktide has chosen the "live service way" forcing you constantly online , leading to obvious server issue that you might have avoided.

almost 2 year later and most of the issue has been fixed, so what do we have now ?
Gameplay:
Has said before, solid foundation,

The movement include sprint (slightly usefull) , jump (sometime usefull) dodge( very ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ usefull, use it, learn it, sleep with it) and crouch/slide ( very usefull) , it overall feels responsive, and has some surprising interraction that I will let your discover on youtube
You have a lot of weapon, both in melee and range , but spread amongst the four classes, the feedback and noise feels great for almost most of them, if you love 40k you'll mostly feels like this is how the weapon should sound or feel (especially the mighty Bolter ,that is not so mighty now but still very cool)

Alongside the weapon you have weapon stat and perk allowing you to do a little bit of build craft , sadly many people still feel limited or their time wasted due to a system allowing to only change 2 of the 4 perk of the weapon, meaning that if you had a weapon with great base stat but ♥♥♥♥♥♥ perk, you might as well just throw it away., or not because the game is quite mechanically heavy ,so build gives you quite the edge (and makes you powerfull) but not required to win.

The ennemy has variety and dependting on difficulty, you go from " Oh a bunch of guys" to constantly fearing for your life as the game will throw exploding and disabler byt the dozen.
One of the key difference is also that ranged ennemy are now common, so running into a firing line is a common occurence that can quickly end you in higher difficulty.

finally the four classes feels distinc thanks to their class ability and their gun exclusivity
The vet, a support dude that encourage ranged combat, used to be busted, but the class update put it a bit down
Ogryn, big guys, with big tools and a rock
Zealot, melee specialist but also flame enjoyer
And Psyker, the wizard kamikaze

They all feel unique, and even more now thanks to the circus update giving a full on perk tree with 1 of 3 mains and secundary ability to chose (1 for both yes) 3 passive buff for you and your friend and one "specialist" ability which is a passive requiring action to trigger.
For instant
Before ,the ogyn coul only throw a box of grenade
Now he can throw a box of grenade, a rock and a nuke , each of them coming 2 upgrade to choose from.

Before he could only rush in, now he can rush in , insult the ennemy's favorite color forcing them to attack him ( a taunt) or simply make his gun shoot faster
(and I forgot the rest but you get the point)
Meaning that not only you have 4 very different classes, but now you also have a lot of way to play them !

Visual:
Game's beautifull
If makes the 40k settings justice with his too big of a building in some cases while horryfying slums that never saw the light of the sun on another cases, it's beautifull.
And the ennemy are not left behind, there are a lot of them, most of them looks accurate,
And you get a quite amount of blood, skull, and pus while you slaughter them.
If you're a fan, you might even enjoy many details as I was looking really hard to find some corpse stach here and there ( I think I found some, not sure tho)

Sounds:
I already touched the gun but I reitarate here that they sounds heckin nice
But on top of this, every specialist ennemy have their own sound cue making it clear when something is coming to pin you down, added to this is a sound to warn you when your behind is about to be penetrated and you have the basic for a fair gameplay experience if you pay attention.
Sadly, the engine seems to be a bit overwhelmed during hordes, preventing the trigger of some sounds, Making it a less fair gameplay attention.

As for the music, Banger , that is all

Ovrall a great game ,the main hinder being the damn live service online obligation and the slow drop of content ,but as a pass time, you'ill have a good time guaranteed
