30 Hours played
Avowed is a beautiful looking high fantasy RPG in the world of Pillars of Eternity. It has very snappy combat, and on this first playthrough, I've noticed that the magic system is a lot of fun. You can freely pick skills from the different skilltrees, but the points are quite limited. I wish there were more of them. Crafting is interesting and is actually meaningful, maybe more than your character level.

The main story is intriguing as well, and I was quite hooked to it. The only thing is that I wish there was more of it. I just finished my first playthrough in 30 hours. Did most of the sidequests that I could find, but didnt do 100% map completion. The side quests that you stumble upon are not fetchquests and have actual interesting stories.

As you would expect, the lore is interesting, and the dialogue has an option to look up certain names and words, so it is not very overwhelming. The choices you make in this game, do actually matter, which means quests have different outcomes and later consequences. I can see that it will be interesting enough for multiple playthroughs, it's very Obsidian like.

Your party members are all interesting enough. They all have several abilities for map exploration. Only downside is that you can only take 2 with you, and if you need a certain ability for a puzzle or whatever, you have to go back to camp and switch out a party member.

The world looks nice, it is very colourful, and feels inituitive to explore for some more loot or quests. Performance for me was also fine. Could play it all on high settings with raytracing on, with an Nvidia 3060 card. Only in the last zone I had some stutters.

I had a blast while playing, so yes, I do recommend this game.
