If you've heard the rumours that this game sucks ass compared to Bioshock 1, well not exactly.

Story

8/10

After playing both games, I can honestly say that Bioshock had a better story compared to its sequel, which may be due to the original developer’s (Irrational Games) decision to not take part in making Bioshock 2, its sequel.

Nothing as prominent as: Would you kindly

Not to say that 2K Marin did a bad job.

They did, however, depict the symbiotic relationship between Big Daddy and Little Sister very well.

Particularly during Adam extraction, you must protect your Little Sister as she extracts Adam from dead splicers, which inevitably draws in Splicers to attack you for the Adam. Once you aquire all Adam from all the Little Sisters, you are forced into a fight with a Big Sister, an enemy more powerful than the Big Daddy.

Throughout the game, you will act, feel and immerse yourself as the Big Daddy until it becomes natural instinct.

Control & Flow

9/10

In the first Bioshock the combat controls did not flow well, being unable to Shoot & Use Plasmids at the same time meant that you’d have to switch back and forth between Plasmid and Gun.

Now in Bioshock 2, they have made it possible to use Both Hands.

Hacking Turrets/Safes etc. are also simplified and improved. You no longer have to play these mini-games with pipes and instead land a needle on specific areas of the meter to hack. They’ve also included Remote-Hack darts that you can use to hack objects at far ranges, making you less reliant on freezing machines and hacking from close range.

Unfortunately, hacking now takes place in real time, meaning hacks don’t pause the game.

Thrills

7/10

The Scares/Thrills from the first game’s atmosphere are not the same in this sequel. It feels diluted and unfresh, a possible product of having experienced Rapture before in the first game. I guess they decided to take away the Horror/Thriller element and replace it with a better gameplay experience.

Still, expect to see a small number of jump scares.

The FUN

10/10

One Word: Drill
But seriously… you will never get bored of drilling a Splicer to death. It’s just so damn fun.

Overall: 8.5/10
