I've noticed a lot of negative reviews lately, across all indie open-world games, so I decided to write a positive one here.

Rising World was received very well by the community! It opened up several new doors that open-world games hadn't seen before.

This is a very fun game, and I used to play it together, with my brother and sister.

It requires you to do everything, which was taken as a positive, at least when people buying games on Steam were optimistic, and looking for new aspects. For example, you have to put each ore in the furnace, add coal, then light it. After a while, you can take out the ingots.
When you chop a tree, you have to pick up the logs. You can chop the stump afterward, as well.

These were considered positives. I still enjoy those aspects of this game. That what makes it Rising World.

The terraforming is like no other. It is amazing! You can make insane mines/caves, and then build your own scaffolding/walkways.

When you go mining, the ores blend so well with the rock they're next to, it just feels realistic. There aren't sharp edges - here is iron, here is stone... it's not like that.

Rising World feels really nice! The graphics are pretty good, too.

I got this for 20 cents with a 90% off coupon... I only got maybe 14 cents worth of gameplay out of it.

There's no menu *at all*. The hint doesn't even work in-game. There are maybe 10 levels? It goes right back to level 1 after you finish the last one. The game explains nothing at all...

You just draw shapes.

The collision is poor, so as you're drawing, you may 'bump' something that was still 1/2cm (screen distance) away, starting the simulation! -_-

Oh, and like I said, there's no menu, so you have to ALT+F4 out of the game!!

Go play magic pen. It's MUCH MUCH MUCH better, and it's free... so why not? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Overall, I would rate it as -1/10... I'm not impressed.

This game was released in 2011. It's still really fun.

My brother and I have played this game for over 700 hours on his account. A lot of that time, we were both playing. (Launching Steam in offline mode) I only bought it recently, (2017 Steam Summer Sale) so I don't have many hours on record.

If you're into modding, get a good free-ride mod. That's where most hours were spent. We would play at the same time, on different computers, and "role-play," as best as we could. Even though it's single-player only, we would "meet up" in the same place, have a conversation, run from the cops at the same time, etc. Not to mention the races through town, in our souped-up cars!

The storyline is engrossing. Living the life of a Mafia member, you're always on the edge of your seat.

The weapon system is pretty nice, not having to bring up a big UI/GUI to select a 'piece'. There is great diversity in how each gun handles.

Driving is something you might need to get used to. It's really easy, but your car can get out of control if you aren't careful. There is an option to change driving style from "normal" to "simulation". I love simulation driving, as it puts me even more on the edge of my seat... nearly falling off, now.

It's pretty easy to trick the cops, into thinking you're someone else... Just walk into a clothing store, and buy/steal a different outfit. Same goes for your car, just go to the shop and change the plate. Change the color and wheels, too, if you're role-playing! :D

Blow up cars by shooting the gas cap. Get in fights with mobsters. Rob stores. Don't look at the collectibles. Eat food. Drink beer, and get drunk. Listen to the oldies radio. Drive at top speed into a wall.

This game is great. The driving experience is really enjoyable!

This review is long overdue... Unturned is a great game! Let's jump into it...

Pros:
  • First off, it's FREE!
  • Singleplayer or multiplayer, you can have a LOT OF FUN.
  • Nelson is sending out constant UPDATES, including more content and improvements!
  • The workshop MODS that people have made are really cool! Very good options!
  • EASY to learn, HARD to master
Cons:
  • NONE, that I can think of... other than the time you'll spend in-game, that could've been used otherwise. xD
Notes:
  • I haven't played it much recently, due to an overload of other games that I have, (and Steam Summer Sale 2017) but I put close to 350 hours in this game already.
  • GOLD upgrade for $5 is worth every penny. The funny faces, alone... Top notch!
  • MICRO-TANSACTIONS can be viewed as a pro/con, depending. I see it as a pro, because it's just that much more that you can add to the game, if you wish. Having these available doesn't seem to slow Nelson down from releasing the updates at all.

So, what is it?

Unturned is a plain-pixel-esk-type zombie survival. You start off with nothing, likely near a farm. Your main goal at first is finding some food, weapon(s), and, of course, clothes... but you can eventually fly in a helicopter, and shoot a tank.

There are quests that you can complete for NPCs that'll reward you with upgraded gear, and such.

You can chop trees, gain XP, toughen up, and punch zombies in the face.

I rate it: 404/42

I just bought it, and I can already tell it doesn't have the Need For Speed feel. It's just like the newer Most Wanted. Exactly the same driving experience!
Oh, and the menus are clunky. No mouse interaction! Only keyboard selecting...

Sorry, EA, this is pretty bad... And this is coming from a Need For Speed fanatic.

I played:
  • The Need For Speed
  • NFS 2 - Special Edition
  • NFS 3 - Hot Pursuit
  • NFS 4 - High Stakes
  • NFS 5 - Porsche Unleashed (my personal favorite of the series)
  • Motor City Online
  • Hot Pursuit 2
  • Under Ground (1,2?)
  • Most Wanted
  • Carbon
  • Undercover
  • Shift
  • Nitro
  • World
  • Hot Pursuit 2010
  • Most Wanted 2012
  • Rivals
...yeah. I'm glad I didn't buy this at full price! Hot Pursuit (2010) is by far the worst in the Hot Pursuit series.

The custom achievement system is pretty cool! I've only played a little bit so far, and it is a rather relaxing zombie shooter. Strange combo, but I like it.

Buy it. Buy it now! You won't regret it.

EDIT: I see it's on sale until July 5, 2018! BUY IT! We need more players. xD

I have too many hours in this game, but I still lose at times. There is always someone better than you. Don't give up though... It's still fun to lose! You can't say that about too many games.

The controls are very simple, and once you learn them, you're good to go! You can change them if you would like. Duck Game also has very good support for controllers.

There may or may not be glitches that you can take advantage of... :D

Feathers will fly!

I have been using this for my backgrounds ever since I got it, and I definitely recommend it!

The price is great, and it works so well!

The abilities of this tool are amazing. I can even "watch" my songs as they're playing!

You can make your own animated wallpapers, using many different programming options. Java, HTML/CSS, or just using the in-app GUI!

There are a lot of nice wallpapers on the workshop that you can choose from, and customize to your liking.

I do have to say, though, that Anime is VERY popular in the workshop. In fact, about 9 out of 10 backgrounds are Anime. It's not what I'm in to, so it tends to get annoying fishing through all of it for a good background. I'm thankful most people tag their wallpapers with the appropriate information, so you can filter them out easily.

Old Information:
If you're into more gadgets for your computer, you should download Rainmeter[www.rainmeter.net]. It's free, and it's good for little additions. (See pic below! I have a specs overlay[fiizzion.deviantart.com] that updates live and a tiny launcher[sketchl.deviantart.com] in the bottom-right for Photoshop, Illustrator, a couple folders, and I can even change my audio to go to either my headset or speakers)

If you buy this, look up Simple Audio Visualizer in the workshop. You can select a background to display behind it, choose the colors of the top/bottom wave, and make it look great!

More Old Information:
My current theme, including the Simple Audio Visualizer[imgur.com] This is where I got my background[darkeagle2011.deviantart.com].

If you're not convinced, that's fine. These tweaks are not for all people.

Space Engineers... Where you can engineer everything but space!

I usually started with a 3-planet system, so I can have a variety, including asteroids. I would spawn in a landing pod, because it has a good setup to start off with. It has all the machines you need to get started. When you're ready, you can destroy it for the good supply of resources, to make a small, yet functional base.

Once you have a small base set up, you should make a rover with an ore detector to carry all the material that you'll be mining. The survival aspect is kinda hard to get used to, but that may just be the challenge you're looking for! Once you have the parts, get ready to make a scout ship (probably just a blob that flies... or just spins around, destroying your base.)

I played a lot of creative mode with my brother, and we would make all sorts of things, including, but not limited to:
  • Extremely large skyscraper-tall ships that would blast off the planet like it weighed 1 pound
  • Very useful miners, that can burrow deep into the ground to get that iron your detector picked up!
  • Amusement parks, complete with Farris Wheels that have synchronized flashing colorful lights! The ride-of-your-life seat, which is connected to a really long shaft, so you go waaaaay up, and waaaaay back down... all within around 1 second. Yeah, it was fast.
  • 40-wheelers, where all the wheels steer, so it can turn on a dime. (A very large 50-foot diameter dime, but a dime, nonetheless)

The list goes on, but you get the idea. You can make anything from practical to useless, but amusing.

It's a fantastic game, but don't expect any more improvements! I haven't played this game much since spring, because it wasn't getting any more good updates. I wore it out after 130 or so hours. When you start installing mod after mod, just to improve gameplay, you know the game is dead. Sure, there's an update every week, but it's only 20MB, and a couple TINY bug fixes that MAY HAVE affected 3 people. Oh, and a changed sound, as if it mattered.

I'm giving a thumbs up, because it is a LOT of fun. After all, I did play for 130 hours, and I might get back into it sometime!
