Amazon killed their game. They took "end game" to mean "end the game!"

I've seen a lot of stupid coming from Amazon Games on New World. I'd like a refund. This is no longer what I bought. Now if you don't play for 6 months, they'll take your username away!

[IGNORE EVERYTHING BELOW]

To start, I firmly believe people are not giving this game enough credit.
Of course there will be long waiting queues on the main servers opening day and for a while thereafter. That should've been expected with how much hype was built for the game.

I personally couldn't join opening day due to work and other IRL circumstances, but joining day 2, there were plenty of servers with "Low" activity. No stupid wait queues, except on Eden and maybe a few other popular servers. The longest queue I've seen on my server was around 150 just after work hours. Had to wait maybe 10 minutes. With all that said, though, I'm going to review the game for its content.

My gaming background:
I have not played MMOs much at all. Some of you may discredit my review for that, but that's okay. I'll be comparing it to other games I've played. Survivals, Simulators, Shooters, Skyrim, etc. Check my profile if you want a more complete list of games I've played.

PVE:
Logging, fishing, mining, skinning, questing, leveling, armoring, jewelcrafting, weaponsmithing, cooking, etc, etc, etc...

This game was designed for all of it. They mastered every aspect of gathering, leveling, and crafting. By far the best system mechanics of any game I've played.

You can sink hours into gathering without realizing any time has passed. I was fishing for an hour and it only felt like 5-10 minutes had gone by. I was shocked when I looked at the clock and it was 00:55 in the morning.

The environment is stunning! So beautiful! Resources galore!

There are a ton of quests available, too. Main story, side quests, town improvements, faction missions, and more. Find intel, delete mini-bosses, collect and craft, etc. You can do this all solo or with a group. I've only played solo, and have had no issues as a result of that decision. The only time you need to group up is for dungeon raids, but there are plenty of players looking for groups.

PVP:
I haven't done much PVP. I toggled it on around level 10 and got absolutely rekt. Last night I joined a gank squad and pwned a few noobs while finishing some PVP quests. It could be really enjoyable if I respec my abilities for it.

There are 3 factions that fight for control of territories. Each fort your syndicate controls will give you a different boost. One gives a bonus to the number of resources while gathering. Another decreases your fast travel costs. There's even a fort that gives a slight bonus to damage against mobs. Plenty of bonuses to fight for!

Preorder/Beta:
I did not play in the beta. I preordered the game just a week or so before it released. The bonus cosmetics are cool, but not a biggie by any means. Don't feel bad if you missed the preorder. The extra amulet's stats become garbage pretty quickly; just make a better one with jewelcrafting or buy a cheap one from the trading post.

Deluxe:
Buying the Deluxe version gives you a few skins and a dog for your house, but I personally don't think it's worth the extra $10. I do use the nifty hatchet skin, though.

In conclusion:
New World has held up very well to the standard that I would expect of a $40 game. I'd even say it's worth $75+ for the standard version. No, I don't think the price should increase; I just think you're getting a good deal for the amount of money spent. Every system just feels right and works well while looking amazing.

Computer Specs:
(I am able to play on high settings with the following specs and only get a slight drop in FPS when 50+ people are gathering together. I had to lower my graphic settings to low and increase my system's virtual memory to stop system crashes while playing. Big oof.)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5 3570k
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 970
Memory: 16 GB DDR3 RAM
Main Storage: 2TB SSD

Update:
The game is a ton of fun, although I'm close to level 60 (which appears to be max) and starting to feel a bit of burnout. 198.7 hours played, which is even more than any of my 14 friends that have played. To me, it seems like it has a fantastic new player appeal but later game starts to become repetitive. I really enjoyed leveling up my skills like mining, harvesting, and skinning, but now that they're nearly maxed, there's not much left that I like to do. I'm sure I'll sink more hours into the game in the future; just taking a break for now.

I absolutely do still recommend the game. 200 hours of playtime is a lot. They're continuing to add stuff, too!
