Brings back so many 2005 memories... AOE 3 makes every civilisation feel unique and has its own play style, AOE2 may have the superior gameplay in my opinion (base building elements and economy are done better) but AOE 3 will get you straight into the action. Naval combat is definitely this games strong suit over the rest of the series, all the different boat types with their abilities can change up the battlefield substantially. You can have your infrantry push the front line with land and water based artillery supporting from behind, this can be emulated in the other games but not to the degree that you can in Age 3. While I think the medieval era is the best for this series, the new world setting provides a lot of different gameplay options. AOE2 will still reign king but AOE3 definitely has its place and is well worth playing
