Alright.. Where do I start? If you you are not looking to get completely addicted and finding yourself playing the game all day straight just to go to bed dreaming about it and how you can never seem to have enough food then I DO NOT RECOMMEND you to purchase this game.

But to the rest of you I assure you that this game might just be one of the best in the genre. With the 1.0 update giving the game a very welcome revamp to graphics and gameplay you are left with a truely charming casual city builder. As someone who enjoys both casual games like Stardew Valley and City Skylines as well as the butt clenching and nerve frying of some hardcore games like escape from tarkov I can say that Foundation solves the biggest issue for me with casual games and that it still has a challenge.
Even if there might not be any "lose" condition per say I would still argue the challenge is there and your actions definitely have consequences. While at the same time balancing it well enough that even my non-gamer girlfriend which usually struggles with picking up games and quits after 20-30 minutes absolutely fell in love with this game.

It is also good to note that the game although having a lot of gameplay features still manages to be fairly straight forward to pickup. Even though there might be some areas of improvement and some things might not be as well explained especially on the more mid-late game mechanics which I thought was a miss.

The game also drives a lot of similarities with Manor lords, as someone who also owns that game I can tell you that this game is exactly what I expected Manor lords to be. It is in a much more polished state with a lot more gameplay features as well, so if you someone who enjoyed manor lords or were thinking to pick it up I can guarantee you'll enjoy this one.

Finally as in a conclusion I'll say that no this game isn't perfect, there are still quite a few bugs, and performance for me wasn't stellar with a few crushes. Thankfully with the frequent autosaves I didn't leave much if any progression and could continue right from where I left. I really home that in some future DLC the devs will add actual combat as at the moment the miliary is simply there to look good and go on "military missions" which is just them going off the map doing some duty you have no affect in. It would be cool actually being able to control your army and fight enemy ai's on the same map as you. But thats just me.

Go buy this game!
